The Treaty of Paris (1783) was an official peace treaty between the United States and Britain that ended the American Revolutionary War.
The Treaty of Paris ended the American revolutionary war in 1763. The treaty was signed in Paris in 1783 by King George the Third, and United States representatives.
Later there was a combined force between the American and French led by George Washington and French general Comte de Rochambeau. They surrounded and captured the British general, Charles Cornwallis and thousands of British troops, during the Siege of Yorktown. When the British found out the news of the British defeat in Yorktown spread to England, there was not much support from America. England agreed to some peace negotiations with Americans to try and end the Revolutionary War.
The treaty was drafted November 30, 1782 but it was signed September 3, 1783. Also in the Fall of 1781, British and American troops fought the last major battle of the American Revolutionary War in Yorktown, Virginia.
