They loved it. We took it slowly, pausing to marvel at their creations.

The video takes you through the process one step at a time. Ordinarily, of course, art should be a more open process, but a more closed activity like this has its place as well, and can help to build confidence.

I would suggest they do it initially in pencil (unlike the way it is modelled in the video) and make sure your little artist knows their toucan doesn't have to be identical to the one here. Every toucan in the world is unique!

It is under the label 'bitesize', but actually bitesize already existed, and is worth checking out in addition to this new website. It is a great resource. If you google any topic (for example, "Romans" or "water cycle", with the word "bitesize") you will find videos and other great resources. You can even look for specific ages in your search, by putting in "KS1" (for key stage one, which is Year 1 and Year 2) or "KS2" (key stage two, for Years 3-6).
