Make a change, be the difference
A confused public image of youth volunteerism being only for the youths in trouble or with problems which leads to a lack of commitment and lost of interest in volunteering as they feel it to be not worth their time. Thus I'll need to find a way to educate the public on what youth volunteerism really is and make the youths feel valued for their service in helping out the community in order to break public stereotypes of youth volunteerism being for the troubled youth and grow the spirit of volunteerism within youths.

Idea 1 : (A lasting memory)
To combat the lack of commitment within youths we need to make them feel valued and important thus i feel that having a non monetary but tangible reward for the youth as the end of the event that serves as a memento that would allow them to remember what they've done in FAMCHAMPS and how they've helped others through their actions, pushing them to work harder to help more who are in need.

Idea 2 :  (Volunteering benefits ALL)
Educating the public especially the youths on the importance of having the spirit of volunteerism is to be willing to volunteer for a good cause and learn life skills, not cause you a someone in trouble or have problems through posters and media broadcasts to really let everyone understand the true meaning behind volunteering for FAMCHAMPS (empathy and sypathy)

Idea 3: (YOUths Made a difference)
To arouse more attention among youths and alumnis to helpout, i felt that designing an poster that directly engages the youth in saying that they will have made a monumental difference in someone's life as a volunteer with the title being "YOUths made a difference" to properly catch the youths attention as the words YOUths directs the message at the audience with the "YOU" in caps. As we valued Quality over quantity, and since we had to personally text every interviewee we managed to get 8 detailed and unique set of answers from our interviewees, though we did notice a trend of the youths volunteering cause of friends, interest or fun as well as them knowing that it is beneficial for society though as much as they want to help they can't due to time restrictions and a tight schedule. Though  unfortunately the main issue faced by the organisation to engage alumnis to come back to help out is that there is a confused public image of youth work as problem youths, as well as the difference between social service and social work, which feeds the alumni volunteers with the wrong information due to miscommunication and rumours that causes them to lost interest and thus lack commitment to help out in such events. Though they did try to curb this issue by constantly engaging more youths through events, talks and workshop to fix up any misconceptions, but it is not proven to be extremely effective as the number of alumnis volunteering to help out each year is still stagnant or dwindling. Design 1: Manipulated the word "MOM" to create the shape of a women's face with long hair complete with a white outline to better define the face shape
Design 2: Just as letter M with long eye lashes and high heels to imitate as the mother who look menacing and intimidating.

Dad-
Design 1: Used the same method to create the first mom design but gave it more volume in its shape to better personify a hardened dad.
Design 2: Made use of the D to show a dad with a moustache as well as sharp, declining strokes from the top of the D to show the frustration and anger of the dad

Child-
Design 1: Used a crooked brain with scribbled words "child" to show the mental frustrations he has gone through as well as elaborating on how broken he is on the inside in a literal manner.
Design 2: Using the same concept as the second Dad & Mom designs i chose to use a contrasting colour white as to better draw attention to the child since he is the main character. I also gave him a helicopter hat as a kiddy element and for the audience to better understand that he is a child.

YOUths- I havent sketched up any ideas of the youths yet but i have a rough idea of portraying him as a teenager while using the words YOUths and really emphasising on the "YOU' with physical elements like converting it into a face while using the "ths" as the body or enlarging the "YOU" in an obvious manner. For this character, I made 2 versions of him as he is meant to be an interchangeable character that moulds himself to aid whatever situation he's in, the first design is of the word "YOUths" where its moulded into a hand to show the participation of YOUths allow healing hands to be casted upon the needy, the second design is meant for the ending of the story which shows Numerous words of "volunteers" circling over a pair of open arms, this shows how when volunteers come together to help they cast this forcefield of healing around those who need it.

Since it was a large file, i kept on crashing and the saves were always getting corrupted, thus i decided to speed up the animation by having the animation of the child falling and the wind happen simultaneously, I also reduced the frame size to Around 720pixels which didnt really affect the quality and lastly I compressed the elements within the file as to reduce its file size from 135.6MB to 7.6MB which made it finally be able to be exported without further issues. Thus, equipped with this knowledge, I began my journey to create animations, initially, I had a lot of trouble coming up with ideas, as I didn’t get to rest properly during the holidays and therefore cause me to be fatigued from brainstorming, 
though after multiple consultations, I was thankfully motivated by Ms Chevady as she advised advice to look through more posters & book to gain inspiration for my withered mind. To my surprised it worked like a charm, and soon, I began  ideating with the same energy and excitement as I had in VC1. 

Coincidentally, this semester also had a typography module which heavily inspired my works to be type based as I found this artstyle to be quite peculiar but rather fascinating as well. Thus I furthered my interest by referencing works from famous 
type artist like Stefan Sagmiester and saw design from a new point of view.

As I found type to be not only a minimalistic artstyle, which is popular with the trend nowadays and how it is a rare artstyle to be used on web comics, I decided 
to go wild and venture into my own method of typographic animated web comics. 

Soon after I illustrated my art works, I faced several technical challenges, such as my PC being unable to manage the high RAM processes done by photoshop as well as the numerous separate elements I had to sort though, organise and group  which was a hassle but thanks to my trusty google and a helpful SIDM friend I was able to simplify my animations, as well as learn how to drastically reduce the file sizes in order for it to be exported and not crash the entire system.

All in all this studio project has taught me how to be resilient and to persevere in face of adversities while also knowing when to ask for help if needed, instead of procrastinating about my initial short-comings. Even though it was a dauting task, it was worth it to see how smooth the animation was and how it really amplified the effect of the struggle volunteers go through just to pull back families.
