What the plan was for today.
Today I had no idea what to expect, it was a new year with new concepts. I had no idea what we what tech I'd be learning this year. So I came into tech today with an open mind, as I knew that I'd either be learning Hard materials or Food tech. I was excited and was anxious to know what I'd be learning this year.

What I did.
We first were taken around the school to refresh our minds on the environment, then the teachers took us to a court and announced the tech we'd be choosing. It was a lot less dramatic than I thought, and realised that either way I'd be having fun... A few moments after as names after names were called, I heard mine followed with the words, Wood tech -> Food(this was to show that I'd start off with wood, then move onto food). I had a very neutral reaction, I had nothing to gain or lose from a few words, so I continued to follow the day around... The food tech group had been lead to there workplace, and I joined the group heading to the woodplace (get it, it's a play on words replacing work with wood). Our first project for this year would be revealed soon, but of course after Mr. Ingo's introduction to safety for working in this workplace. But once after his last words for the introduction to safety would be spoken, our project would be revealed. It was... *suspenseful opera music plays in the background*, nought's and crosses... (WOW!). But it ended up becoming quite problematic, I had the bright idea to put in a small tray to keep the Tic Tac Toe pieces in to avoid it being lost, (That became very problematic). I ended up hinding my face behind my hands for maybe 5 minutes because of how confused I was, wondering how I'd be able to make it happen, Mrs. Dove (our new wood tech teacher) came over to see what had been making me so muddled, she came up with a very simple yet effective idea, but I being Jahvan had decided that wasn't good enough, it was too BASIC. So I pondered around my idea for even more minutes then came to the decision to just do what her idea was... I got on with my project, sanding and cutting, and I ended up doing quite well. I was unable to completely finish it but I was proud!

What I learnt.
I think I learnt quite a bit for the time I wasn't hiding my face behind my hands. I learnt how to properly set up the scroll saw properly (tightening the saw thing), and I also learned how to sand properly - the hard way, if you know what I mean. Yeah I think that's it.

How I felt about it.
Today went well, I was really happy with my progress and honestly I think I couldn't have done better.

What the plan was for today.
Last week Miss. Dove had told us that if we had not finished our tic tac toe game (I hadn't) then we'd have to make it in free time... Other than that I had no idea what would I be doing this week.

What I did.
Today we started off with finishing our tic tac toe game then heading to creating and designing objects with resin and wood... I faced a few problems in finishing my tic tac toe game, as I had to wait a duration to make my pieces then having a problem with the machine where I couldn't fit on a smaller hole maker. Mrs. Dove came to aid and helped me out. She explained that they had lost a piece which would help fit the piece onto the hole maker. She had then gave me a wooden pole thing (I forgot the name) and instructed me to drill holes into my board and cut up the pole to fit the holes.

How I felt.
Today I confronted quite a few problems and in the short amount of time as well. I did feel that if I had started off with a better idea then I'd be finishing my resin at the moment, but noo. I had to confront problems...

What I learnt.
I learnt that dwelling around an idea for a long time isn't the best way to stay ontop of everything. I'd feel so much more happy if I had been organised in the start, now I'm falling behind and really need to buckle down and focus next week!

What was the plan for today.
Last week I had just finished my tic tac toe, whilst most other people were finishing resin projects... So this week I knew that I'd have to catch up by doing my resin project.

What I did.
I first got onto making a bigger piece for my resin project, because I realised that what I did wasn't a good size for what I had imagined for it. I finished making the wood base, and ended up pouring in both parts to make the resin chemical reaction happen. I then went onto researching about, what I'd do for a project that I can work on for the remaining weeks of the term in tech. The project had to represent sustainability in some way, so I decided that I'd make somesort of table out of milk crates, to supply unwanted things on the table and have a nice table to sit around.

How I felt.
Because all I had to do was make my resin, it was easy for me to catch up to the others and so I ended up feeling quite proud of myself for catching up with everyone else.

What I learnt.
At the end of the day Mrs. Dove showed us what we'd be doing next week(making pendants with glass). She showed us how to cut the glass, with two devices, and how to sand it.

(the photo is me sanding my wooden base for the resin project). :D

What was the plan for today.
Last week, at the end of the day, Mrs. Dove had introduced us into the process of making glass, projects. So I had naturally thought that, we'd be making the things that she had introduced.

What I did.
After she refreshed what she had explained, we got onto making our glass projects, we first did things on practice glass though. The difference between the practice glass and the glass we'd be using in our pendents, is...
Our practice glass can't be used in the heating process and that the glass we would be using had some sort of wave type pattern on it.

How I felt.
Fortunately, I actually did quite well, I had a plan in mind and I got on with what I had to do. I did have to retry quite a bit with cutting the glass, but in the end I did it!

What I learnt.
I learnt that coming into doing anything, it's helpful to have a plan, otherwise (like I had experienced), you fall behind.

(the photo is my drawing of what I plan to do for my end project)

Not there... Was sick. I did end up learning about the gods of management though.

The gods are as follows:

Zeus
Apollo
Athena
Dionysus

Zeus in business, is a management approach - like the other gods of management. It focuses on a main person in charge, an example would be:
Mafias.
In mafia thereś usually one big boss who is in control of most things. The approach would be a Zeus type.

Apollo in business is alot different from Zeus. Apollo focuses on team work and hierarchy. This is seen in areas like mafia work.

The Apollo approach involves putting a hierarchy system in a business. The hierarchy would have things like:
a supervisor, manager, district manager things like that.

Athena. The Athena approach is kind of like Apollo, but without the hierarchy. It's an approach where a group of people have a goal in mind and complete small tasks to eventually reach that goal. This type of approach is seen in places like McDonalds.

Dionysus. Dionysus focuses on the individuals working in the company. Usually in Dionysus type businesses the employee is a specialist in a way. Places this approach would be used in would be companies like:
Law firms, Architectural work.

This is an image the lecturer used in his presentation.

What was the plan for today?
Last week I wasn't there, so I came into tech having no idea. Also, the first thing we started on was writing about a chair, so I was very confused.

What I did.
After I did the chair assignment, everybody got on with their big project (the project they would be doing for the term). I checked to my book, and I realised that my idea was quite boring. Everybody had extravagant ideas, some doing clocks or making things with the shape of New Zealand, (and turtles?). I was originally going to make a milk carton box. I realised that I can really do something greater. I took inspiration from Tihema and decided that I'd make a wooden Pinball machine like him.

How I felt.
By the end of the day, I felt quite proud. I had to step outside of my comfort zone and I ended up feeling quite courageous.

What I learnt.
Stepping out of your comfort zone is probably one of the best ways to learn.

What we did.
Today, we cooked Vege/ Cheese Friiters and Chocolate Brownies. For the first period we chopped our veges for the fritters to get it ready for cooking. We chopped veggies and grated cheese and added them into a big mixing bowl. After that, we made a mixture with Flour, eggs, and milk to make sure the Fritter is smooth and a bit lumpy. At the end of that we made our chocolate mixture for brownies. We used cocoa powder, sugar, flour, and etc.

For the second period, we used this time to bake our brownies and start cooking our Fritters. Using the mixture we made in the mixing bowl we made small clumps and added them to the frying pan - which had butter and oil frying in it. After that we flipped them and ate!

For the last block we finished dishes, and cleaning up. Doing that took most of our time and by the time we finished we were ready to go!

What I learnt.
Since I'm still quite new to cooking I'm learning a lot every day I go to food tech. I learnt what adding butter does for cooking foods - butter makes the food go nice and golden brown, adding a nice texture the exterior of the fritter.

How I felt.
The food was of course really good so at the end of eating the mellow texture of the fritters and-. I was quite happy with how the fritters and brownies turned out! All around the day was really good!

What I did.
Today was our last week at tech for this term. Our task was to make a burger using our knowledge on food. We were given either Chicken or Beef, I chose beef. I mixed the patty with spices to make a 'Kofta' Patty. The patty was said to be the main part for the burger, said Mr Coates. So I knew that it had to be good! After that we put the patty into the fridge to let it become firm. After that I started working on making my Tzaziki Sauce. By the end of the day my burger had Tzaziki Sauce, Onions, and the 'Kofta' patty. I wanted to fill the burger ingredients inside a pita bread. But the one I had brought was too soft and broke when I tried to fill it. So I had to resort to a normal burger bun.

The burger turned out really well, and I really liked it!

How I felt.
The burger was really good! I was quite surprised how well the Tzaziki sauce went with the spices. I did get quite worrysome when the pita bread broke but it ended up being really good despite not having it.
