After moving to South Korea, I was immersed in their fast-moving tech field, as I watched my friends and students get new technology on a month to month bases. Korea’s internet speed and WiFi coverage made sure that the entire country was covered in high-speed internet. While both of my schools are 1 to 1, China has been so much more integrating with technology. With the ridiculously powerful apps such as Wechat and Alipay dominating every part of the daily life here. I do not have email lists, I have Wechat groups. We raise fundraisers using Wechat pay, send out reminders on mega groups and moments. We use and create QR codes daily and most collaboration happens on Wechat. While we do have to contend with the Great Firewall, we have VPNs and many different ways to get around the wall to the internet.
