  • The winter  lasts for eight months and is super cold 
  • In winter it will reach -60 degrees f and in summer it will reach 50 degrees f that will melt the snow and create wetlands
  • In the middle of winter, it might be night for a week and in the middle of summer the sun will be up for 24 hrs 
  • The permafrost is frozen all year

  • In the tundra, most plants are grasses, shrubs, herbs and lichen. They mostly have shallow roots
  • They grow in groups so they stay protected from cold
  • Some of the plants  come back each year from the same root

  • Some mammals hibernate in the winter and some migrate 
  • Some animals change fur coats from brown to white in the winter like the arctic fox 
  • In the summer there will be more animals and a lot more insects
