The adults are supporting her through having a clean environment where she has freedom of movement as well as they are walking around instead of hovering over her. The adults are giving her freedom to explore.

They are practicing kneeling and keeping their balance as the material moves around. The child paused and looked like she wanted to pull herself up to stand but did not. Kneeling is what happens right before pulling up so I think this is a good exercise for her to get more confident in her abilities before moving onto the next challenge.

It seems like she was capable of standing but might have been hindered by the wheels rolling out from under her. Maybe if she was using a heavy object like an ottoman she would be more comfortable trying to stand fully.

She is challenging herself with activities that require maximum effort , she loves to practice pushing the lady bug, in some moments she is trying to pull up, she is exercising equilibrium and working with her core muscles. Later on she started exploring the shapes of the antennas on the lady bug with her mouth. Probably in a traditional setting they will get closer to help her sit on the lady bug or even move her away from her to avoid that the lady bug will tip over and the baby hurt herself at a Nido environment they step away observe and are willing to help as much as necessary but as little as possible. No one is intervening even when they walk right by her they respect her concentration which allow the baby to enjoy and benefit from the freedom of movement is given.

This child is working on pulling up to stand and also beginning stages of walking. She is allowed the freedom to move around instead of being placed in a baby walker. Because she can move around she's able to strengthen her muscles and constantly practice what her brain and body are being driven to develop. She is using a chair and also a push car to try to pull her body up to standing. The chair is more stable and easier for her. The push car provides more of a challenge for her. She also has bare feet which allows her toes to better grip the floor and assist her in what she's trying to achieve.

This child seems to benefit from the open environment, giving them room to move in different ways. It seems that as many opportunities for pulling up to stand as possible would be beneficial (ottoman, brachiation bar, small climbers, etc.) in addition to the push walker. I also wonder about materials that will encourage the child to reach and cross the midline in order to stimulate that gross motor development + balance and vestibular system.

This environment differs from a traditional one as no one was hovering around her, and they allowed her to work with this material independently without interruption. The guide stepped around her work to refrain from disrupting her.

She is also trying to develop standing with a moving object as she is more than likely confident with a stable it is much more challenging with a moving base.

The child was given a lot of space to explore the material, there was nobody close to her or interfering with her concentration.

I enjoyed watching the little girl push the wheeled car. She kept trying to get up from her knees to eventually stand up. She was delighted in her own efforts because I heard her laugh and giggle. She was really concentrating and left the chair to use the push car. She was self motivated and alert to what was going on around her in the room.

The first thing I noticed in this video was that this child is working at a shelf, but seems very interested in this material. If I were in this room I might redirect the child to the table and represent how to use the material. Likewise, there seems to be a lot of talking in the background. I think by reconnecting this childs focus over all at a table she would be able to sit and enjoy this work

I do not think the child is working but they are not being destructive or distracting in any way. The child is more so observing her environment and really taking her time to observe the peices of this work. By the end of the video you can see she somewhat understands how the work is supposed to be done. She is clearly interested but is doing a lot of observing rather than trial and error to figure this work out.

I believe she has an idea of how to use the material but isn't quite sure how to complete it successfully, I say this because in the beginning of the video the child grabs two shapes and places them on the chair, she stares at it for awhile, noticing something isn't right, adjusts the placement before grabbing them once again pacing around the shelf then places them on the floor momentarily, then grabbing them again and places them on the shelf wondering how to use the material.

It seemed like she was trying to use it purposefully but had no ideas about how to use it. She kept the materials together and every time she wandered she was able to refocus when she noticed part of her work. She is in need of a lesson.

Yes, she has and idea of the goal of the material and the purpose itself. She needs some guidance, and as a guide, after seeing how long she was engaged with those shapes, I would step in and guide her to grab the trade to sit on a table near by or even work with her on the floor with a work rug. Probably I would make a lesson that exaggerates every time I place a shape in the right place. I assume she has worked with it before or has observed friends working with it, but she doesn't have a clear understanding. Maybe I would isolated the difficulty by hiding some of the shapes and keeping the easiest to give her the chance to feel confident once she tries. The shapes with six holes are too challenging for the first presentation and could discourage her.

The child was clearly interested in this work but doesn't seem to have had a presentation on it. This would be such a perfect opportunity to give this child a presentation on this material. She clearly has the ability to concentrate and maybe she's done other puzzles. But she didn't seem to know how to work with this one.

My biggest impression is that the toddler is very interested in this material, but it seems that she did not receive the proper skills or presentation to this material. When the guide came and gave the toddler back the posts to the shape, she did not take the time to sit and show her how to properly use it.

The child was really interested in the work. I think she needs another presentation. She paced a lot back and forth before going back to her work. She noticed water on the floor and placed her pieces in it. She then wiped it off the pieces. She set the board on the ground that the guide then placed back on the shelf. She seemed discouraged a little bit that the place she chose to work was then changed and interrupted, but that just might be my opinion. Overall, I think she needs another presentation or easier material.

The environment is calm and organized. The young girl was really interested in using this material even after it was swept away by her classmate. There were moments she looks away but still remains interested. I think she wanted to connect with this material but needed another presentation on how to use this material. The child isn't using the material in a purposeful way; she doesn't know how to use it. I can't tell exactly what I will do with the child, because I don't t know the whole scenario, she could be new in the class and she is exploring the environment. If that is the case, I'll let her keep exploring and when she is more comfortable with the environment and material, I'll model the material and give her a lesson.

I found this video to be so frustrating to watch! This poor child clearly wants to use this material and is able to focus for an extended period of time but she doesn't seem to be aware of how to use it. I wonder what state she found it in to begin with. I wonder if the bread basket that was on the floor and then moved to the shelf was for the puzzle pieces. Did this child find the tray set up properly or is she connecting with someone else's mess? I think there are too many pieces (I would use a similar puzzle that can be broken down into pieces and then scaffolded as you add more) and start with the puzzle piece ON the puzzle for the child to move it to the basket and then practice replacing it.

Seems like she loves the PURPLE color as On and Off she is lifting, wondering, and transporting that the most out of all the other colors.

The children are engaging in the environment during a work cycle. A child walks by wiping their nose with a tissue. Another child is using work at the shelf. Another child is seen briefly using a magnifying glass and and the carpet sweeper. The child at the shelf is exploring the pegs on the wooden board as well as the shapes that go along with it.

I would say the child wanted to complete the work and did a great job with her concentration!!!

She was not confident with how to put the blocks onto the board

I would suggest she have only the wooden blocks with one dowel opening and once successful with that to move to two hoes then three and so on

It was funny when the sweeper took her board with the dowels away!!

After seeing this video, the child is interested working with this material but she is not sitting and working. one of the adult watched her doing picking the material she would have redirect her. The next thing is she is distracted by other children.

One thing for sure, the child is very interested on that material. The question whether she understands the material or not, is definitely a no or perhaps she is just learning about the material. She knows what to do with it, but I can tell there's not work cycle being showed from beginning to end.

The child seems to be engaged in the material but because of the "environment" being too loud keeps her distracted. One thing I would focus would be the normalization of the classroom. and be consistent with children to learn the ending of the work cycle.

The child is very interested in putting the Nesting Dolls together. After putting them together he takes them apart and matches their sizes one by one. He is still concentrating on the material even after dropping a piece and retrieving it. He goes to put it back on the shelf and then brings it back to the table maybe he wasn't sure where is goes or decided he wasn't done with it. This material might not be challenging enough for him since he is able to complete it so quickly.

Yes, He is successfully placing the nesting dolls one into the other without any difficulty. As he overhears voices, he is able to manage and keep working by himself, but once one of the pieces falls on the floor and he realizes it is being recorded, it now becomes the focus of his attention. Maybe the eye contact that produced that smile wanted him to engage with the guide or person recording. So he loses interest in his own work cycle. Plus, the loud noises are ruining the classroom.

This child is defiantly concentrated on his work as seen by him trying to put different peices together and not getting distracted even when he got up to get a piece he dropped. It was not until the end of the video that the camera began to break his concentration and he began mouthing it. Montessori even said at one point that observing can also be a distraction. I believe that this is the case here seen by the boy staring at the camera at the end instead of continuing to problem solve and work with the material.

The child was concentrated, he worked with the material for over 2 minutes, even though he got a little bit distracted after dropping a piece of the material, he was able to go back and sit to keep working with it. When a child is working and truly concentrated with a material, our duty as guides is to protect the child's concentration so he can get the most during the learning experience.

As I see this video a 2nd time, I did notice how he was concentrated in the beginning completing the nesting doll. He lost his concentration once he noticed the camera as he kept looking in and out. He made sure the job was complete and then put it in the basket correctly. I acknowledged how he also carried the materials with two hands making me feel like he's very familiar with materials and a work cycle.
