MARCH NEWSLETTER REFLECTION! :) by Ms. Lloyd

Answer at least two of these questions:
How much time did you spend preparing for and working on your article?
What was good about your article?
Where can you improve for the next newsletter?
What suggestions do you have to improve the next newsletter?

Remember you this is a part of your overall newsletter grade, and you will be graded on the depth of your reflection.

When we had all of our information, my team and were able to create the article with ease and with time to spare. Our article was very informational and at the same time interesting in order to keep the audiences attention. There are a few things that I can improve on for the next newsletter. I can work on the few spelling errors that I made.

My team and I had spent the entire week given to us before the work day prepping for the article we were assigned with. On the article itself, we spent the workday given to us in class as well as a few hours after school in order to ensure the article was quality.

Our article was unique in that it was meant to excite and entice the reader regarding the Big Event. The best aspect regarding our article is that we used factual information as well as interviews form past people Big Event workers in order to keep the article relevant.

For the next article, I would say to try and turn in the articles with as little errors as possible so that the editors job is easier and the quality of the grammar throughout will not be under the responsibility under any one or two individuals. Also, ensure team members do not wait to the last minute in order to complete their parts of the project but rather use all of their time wisely.

For the next news letter, all the teams, editors, and managers should communicate better as well as the editors actually editing the mistakes in the articles rather than just turning the articles in as is. For example, my article has one grammar mistake due to spell check changing the word that was meant to be "too" to "two". Simple things like that really effect the quality of the work as well as the credibility of STEM as a whole and must NOT happen.

There are a lot of things that I can improve on for the next newsletter. The main thing I having my stuff ready for the workday. Although I usually have my things for the work day I always wait until the last possible second to do it. If I prepare better I know I will be able to write more successful articles.

I did not spend that much time preparing for the article. I did not get my needed materials until the class before the workday. That is something I can improve on. However, when it came to actually writing the article my group and I spent the entire class writing.

Something that was positive about our article was the picture we had that showed the results of the sophomore's work. The article was also very informative including quotes from both students and teachers. The article explained what the purpose of the project as well as what they learned from it.

A suggestion for the next newsletter would be for everyone to turn in their article on time. Without the main articles the newsletter looks empty and things are not getting the recognition that they deserve. Also it would be helpful to split up the job of putting everything on the smore page, it is a lot of stress on two people to put the entire project together.

Our team spent about a week working on our article with gathering info, compiling it onto the computer and then converting it into an enjoyable video segment. An improvement to be made next month would be dedicating at least one day to make sure all digital files are sent to the editor. One thing that was good about our article was that we were able to pull aspects of mostly all grade levels of STEM as far as what they are doing in this point of the year whether it be a project or current chapter of curriculum.

The project was a double class project where the kids learned about two different subjects while doing only one project. It was a really cool thing to ask about and learn about. Our team spend around 20 to 30 minutes grabbing all the information that we needed to write the article, and 30 - 40 minutes actually writing the article.

What was good about our article was the fact that it flowed well and was very informative to the public. It fully explained the topic and went into detail. Where we can improve, however, is that sometimes we have grammar troubles, so we have to use autocorrect or help from someone who knows what they're talking about. Our team spent roughly 10 minutes preparing for the workday, drafting the article, getting pictures and such, and we spent 20-25 minutes on the actual workday. For the next newsletter, I cannot really say that there is much to improve. I would like to see more pictures, but other than that, there isn't much that I can say needs to be improved.

We spent the most time reforming our interviews into article form so that they are in the proper format, and that took a little more than a class period.

My team and I spent a weekend preparing for our article and writing out questions to ask our student. We spent an entire class day and one night working on the article and editing it. Our article was good because it really showed life outside of STEM for people who do not have older siblings and do not know what it is like to be going to college and the struggles and improvements outside of high school. I had a picture set up to put in our article, but when time to turn it in came around, I had forgotten to add the picture to the document to put on the article. For the most part, I think I should lengthen out my articles more and go a little bit more in depth to really get what I am trying to say be said. Also, I would like to improve on my vocabulary. It seems to me that I use pretty generic words rather than words that could get what I wanted to say explicitly.

I believe that the Banquet article that Mia, Dakota, and myself contributed equally in was a good article that contained all the information regarding the STEM banquet that we are all so excited about and was able to get the reader intigued into the idea. Also, in this months newsletter it had included all topics of STEM right now except for a few who could not upload their articles in time, but overall it was a good month for the STEM newsletter team.

My group spent 1.5 hours getting and putting the interview together. The content in the article was really in depth and detailed. The article was also on time. My group can work to get some pictures for the next Newsletter. I would say for some groups to use their time wisely to get a better, well thought out article.

I spent little time on this newsletter, but what was great about our article was that it was well organized and we had all our components for the article. Our team learned the importance of having a back up plan if something were to go wrong. Which unfortunately happened to us. It was out of our control, and if we would had a contingency plan, all the work would have been done at the same day. It was anyone's fault solely on one person. The next times article I want to make sure everything is done one time and have a back up plan.

I pent 7 hours on my article. A good part of my article was that readers can get an inside view of what the two seniors think and want to do with their future. Maybe improve my speed for working on the article maybe instead of 7 hours cut it down to 5 hours. My suggestion would be to get all interviews done at least two days before the work day that way team members have more time to work on the article.

In the next newsletter, people need to have checklist that explains what they need; the reason for this is because after turning in their rubrics people forget what they need for their newsletters and forget about it all together.

In improving the newsletter people just need to set reminds that they have work to do for this and not to get off task with it. The newsletter is a way for parents to see what we are doing in stem, not to think we don't do anything till the end of the year. Another thing to do is if someone doesn't turn their article in then don't out a title till they send it in cause that was confusing.
