-People bring dogs to WAR with them for example: they brought dogs to the civil war and world war 1 for like tracking injured troops or fighting.

-They served as companions, Others were used to deliver messages in the battle field or guard troops.

-Wardogs have aided the US military for more than 150 years.

-Dogs that serve i the U.S. Armed forces are officially known as military working dogs/ MWDs.

-While at lackland, MWDs are alo taught to recognize the enemy and to bite and attack on command.

-some times MWDs dress up with items or armor.

- when its dark out, an MWD on patrol may have a night-vision camera attached to its vest, by sending images back to a handler's monitor, the camera allows the soldier to see what the dog is speaking.

-MWDs that are working in the desert are given cooling vests to wear, They protect the dogs from temperatures that can get as hot as 135 fahrenheit.

-A tiny speaker on the vest lets the handler give the dog instruction as it walks ahead of soldiers.

-a bomb sniffing dog can detect odors up to 100 times better than a human can

-in the past, all retired MWDs had to be put to sleep. it was believed the animals were too aggressive and hard to handle to become household pets. In 2000, however, a law was passed that allows people to adopt the dogs after they retire.

-in 2011, about 600 MWDs served in Iraq and other wars. more than 2000 dogs were on other US military bases around the world
