Turn Your Camera On If...

After completing a Teams Scavenger Hunt we had students play a game using their cameras. It is a virtual version of "Stand up if..." So students turn their cameras off while the teacher says a phrase "Turn your camera on if you have a sister" etc. If it is true for a student then they put their camera on. The students enjoyed playing the game and all were able to control their camera!

parent meetings

All four of my parent meetings happened today! It is great to make face to face connections with them and understand what supports they need.

Management support: I haven't had any live sessions yet, but I wanted to offer up support. If you would like me to hop onto a meeting to introduce myself, help monitor chats (until that is fixed) or anything, please let me know and we can try to schedule something. Given that I am just one person, I do wonder about IAs that might be joining meetings that might be able to fill that role as well.

There are students on SEESAWW YESS!!! I was so nervous about how to get them on Seesaw...like with all of the login steps through Clever and the web browser...but, we got on there today and we are moving forward!

Using Teams Features

When selecting feelings for our class charter the students really enjoyed practicing using the Teams features to vote. i.e. "If you want to feel included in our class turn your camera on." If you want to feel confident type me in the chat."

Class meetings are going well. Having a short and engaging read aloud each day has helped. Having a backup plan for tech related issues is a must. Brain breaks, singing, get students working!!

Students are logging onto seesaw and are posting their work. So many of my students were not able to do this in the spring so this is very exciting!

The SEL lessons SPS posted have a lot of valuable content in them. Also a few of the recommended "getting to know Seesaw"/"community building on Seesaw" activities are rad!

My team has never been stronger. We are just collaborating like its no ones business and I would feel completely lost with out them. Looking at you KO and CD <3

highly suggest playing simon says and incorporating teams skill! Simon says touch your nose, Simon says turn your microphone off, Simon says raise your hand, Simon says wiggle around, Simon says turn your camera on, etc! super fun for my kinders today :)

Giving students time to chat while waiting for everyone to join has been helpful. At the end inviting students to play a game and stay on a little longer has helped build a stronger relationship. Having whole class for so much of the time seems to diminish the opportunity for quieter students to participate.

Kindergarten has had all students take a selfie as a first Seesaw assignment. They are super sweet and feel like a great easy entry into seesaw activites
