Recap in your own words: When people started rebelling against Britain, the British soldiers decided to attack and shot the first bullet at Lexington which is known as the, "shot heard around the world." The soldiers realize they couldn't win when the minutemen attacked back, so they decided to retreat back to Boston. On their way back to Boston, the minutemen attacked the soldiers as well.

Who won and why: The Colonials won because they were shooting soldiers from trees, buildings and behind rocks while the British soldiers were vulnerable out in the open.

Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Recap in your own words: The Declaration of Independent was mainly written by Thomas Jefferson but the Second Continental Congress made some changes. It was made to tell British that they wanted America to be separate from Britain. The declaration included reasons as to why they wanted independents.

Location: New York 

Recap in your own words: The British wanted to take control of the Hudson River and New York so the Colonials fought back in a battle which lasted 18 days. The British were trapped by the Colonials and were waiting for the reinforcements, but none arrived. The British eventually lost because they were running out of soldiers and so they had to surrender. Because of this victory, the French joined the Patriots side which is why it was called the turning point.

Who won and why: The Patriots won because the British had no reinforcements to come and help them.

Location: Pennsylvania

Recap in your own words: The Patriots making their way up Valley Forge, where they will stay and train at. The hike there was miserable and the living conditions were just as bad. They didn't have good warm clothes to protect them from the cold winter, not enough food,  campsite was very over-crowed, and people started getting very ill. Times like this these tested the Colonial soldiers to see if they'll stay strong and pass through a time of crisis, or become cowards (summer soldiers) and wimp out.

Location: Virginia

Recap in your own words:  Yorktown was the last battle and the battle that ended this war. While the British were waiting for their reinforcements, which didn't come. Washington and his group surrounded the British on land, while the French blocked the British ships at Chesapeake Bay. There was nothing the British can do, so General Lord Cornwallis was forced to surrender.

Who won and why: Patriots won because they trapped the British and since their reinforcements didn't come, they lost.

Location: Paris, France 

Recap in your own words: The Treaty of Paris was a peace treaty between the U.S and Britain that basically says that the U.S is their own independent country now and that Britain has to accept it. The Mississippi River to the west, Canada to the north, and Spanish/Florida to the South are the boundaries that set the United States away from Britain.

Who won and why: The Patriots won because they won this war. :-)

Recap in your own words: The British went back to Boston and realized they needed to control access to Boston Harbor. After hearing the British's plans, the Colonials decided to take over the hills (Bunkers & Greens). When the British woke up, they found out that the Colonials already took over the hills. Fighting broke against the Colonials and the British but, during the fight, the Colonials ran out of bullets so they had to retreat.

Who won and why: The British won because the Colonials ran out of ammunition so by default, they have to retreat.
