While looking for Taliban soldier on the Hindu Kush mountain, Luttrell and his team came across three goatherds. After deciding whether to kill them or let them go, the team agreed on not worrying about them. A couple hours passed when a group of Taliban soldiers showed up in the mountains. Luttrell and his team tried to fight back but they were heavily outnumbered. Mikey took out his phone trying to call HQ but ends up taking a bullet straight to the chest and dropping his phone and gun. Mikey’s heroic action was to save his teammate's life. The result of that was to jump off the side of the mountain over and over again. Luttrell and his team were able to hide from the Taliban. The irony on how Luttrell was more afraid of the liberals in the government that the Taliban. The government had no idea what the Seals have to make decisions on, according to Marcus Luttrell. When Marcus and his team came across the goatherds on the mountain, they didn’t know what to do. One teammate wanted to kill them and the other wanted to let them go. Basically, it was either kill them or to hide your cover or let them go and get told about the Seals arrival. The rule of engagement didn’t let them kills the local because they were not an enemy in the Taliban. The liberals also judged what the Seals could and can’t do. If the government let them decide what to do, then the Seal wouldn’t have been in danger from the Taliban. The team had to help protect each other and not be in it for themselves.
