Its celebratedd for more than 500 years and its origin comes from a story from someone who saw the spirit of his dead mother and she was suffering, then bhuda advised the man into offering food and drinks to release her of her suffering which worked leading the man to dance with joy creating the obon dance.
Families who celebrate Obon often gather in their hometown, visit the graves of their ancestors, bringing their spirits to his family house with paper lanterns.
At the end they lead him back to his grave and throw their lanters to the river simbolyzing that they are in the sky peacefully.

The city is extensively decorated, from the most important streets of the historic center, through the main artery of the city, Avenida da Liberdade, and culminating in Parque da Ponte.
On the night of S.
