The layout of this album advertisement is very conventional, with the artist and album name ion the top section of the page, the photograph unobstructed in the middle, and the date and single/s information at the bottom. There are two logos in the bottom right hand corner, too. I'm unsure of what they are - maybe related to the record label/s the album was produced with.

Almost all of the artist magazine advertisement conventions are used in this particular image. For example, the photo is not only a clear face image of Marina but actually the photo used on the album cover, or the front of the digipak. The largest text is the name of the artist, followed by the album title. The only one that isn't included is a url to her dedicated website - perhaps she didn't have one at the time. This is usually the last feature on the page, and it is typically smaller than the other pieces of information.

The font is an off-white colour, which corresponds with the mostly monochromatic palette on the image. The single font used throughout the advert is also the font that's on the album cover. The image is mostly made up of 'dull' colours yet the contrast is quite sharp, so it still stands out when one looks at it.

The obvious example of synergy in this advert is the font, but there's a more subtle one too. The album is called 'Electra Heart' and there is a heart drawn on the face of the artist in the image used/front of the digipak.

The text and background are in monochromatic shades, but her face and hair etc. is in colour. Marina also appears to be looking at the camera, and thus connecting with the audience directly.

The artist and album title are at the top, the photo dominates the majority of the page and the single information is at the bottom. There is information about what formats the album were going to be available on (record and tape), which is the very last feature of the advert. This was probably more significant then than it is now, because today almost all popular music is guaranteed to be released on CD and online, whether that be on YouTube, Spotify or wherever appropriate. However, in 1984, when Like A Virgin was released, people relied on different types of technology like cassettes. It's intriguing that the specific types of cassette players/record players the album would be compatible with were listed. Obviously, there was no mention of a website on the advertisement because the internet hadn't properly been invented!

This is definitely an advert that sticks to conventions. It ticks all the boxes (apart from a website)! It's very simple, almost minimalistic, and it seems like the text is mainly there to accompany the image, not the other way around. It's all about the visual aesthetic.

The font of the information at the bottom of the page looks fairly similar to the font used for the album title and artist name (which are identical on the actual album cover), but they clearly aren't the exact same font, so there it's slightly unsatisfying to look at. The image is in black and white, as on the album cover. I assume this is to give a retro effect, which would match the aesthetic of Madonna's hair and costume.

This is an interesting advert because, although it uses the time of release, single information, artist name and album name, it does not include the album cover. the album cover (below) is without an image, simply the title and the artist. The album title and artist name are in the same font on the advertisement as on the album cover, and an image of Lorde is included in the advert, perhaps to contextualise the information about the artist for the audience. As far as I'm aware, the photo used does not appear anywhere in the album digipak, but has been used for online promos.
