By simply travelling or driving around with the app installed on a user’s smartphone, he/she can share real-time information that translates traffic conditions and road structures. Also, the user can also report to the community on weather conditions, police traps, blocked roads, accidents, traffics and etc. Waze collect this information and analyze immediately in order to provide other Waze users the most optimal route to their destination, 24 hours a day. Because drivers connect to one another and work together to improve each other’s driving experience. The maps and navigation are powered by users, the more people drive by Waze, the better the navigation. Furthermore, Waze also uses information from your expedition to check for errors, calculate average speed, learn road and turn direction and improve road layout. Waze focus are drivers. Because of that, it does not support navigating in lanes dedicated to bicycles, trucks and public transportation.

‐ In setting up and using Waze, the app will collect your detailed location and route information, information that you choose to share with Waze including the username of the person had chosen, “home” or “work”, other “favorites”, reports associated with the username, calendar information, destinations you may travel to, search queries, chat messages, information about your use of services. In addition, if the user go for “find friends” feature, Waze will collect all of the phone numbers which are stored on your device’s phone book, the user’s own phone number which will be used to verify his/her account as part of the “find friends” feature. Furthermore, the app will collect the person’s name and gender, information shared from his/her social network accounts, will link all of the user’s information with the user’s account and username used, and when using the application, the user’s approximate location and other information chosen to be contributed will be visible to other users associated with the username “Wazer”.

Waze apparently requires phone contacts to be accessed, even though anonymously, it can still pose a threat and maybe a problem on privacy issues. Moreover, any google searches the user has done through local applications or IP addresses that track his/her geolocation can easily be used to link his/her Waze data to his/her search history, social networking profiles, to virtually any other intelligence Google or its subsidiaries are collecting about you. Simply by using Waze even just once, the user has potentially granted Google license to identify him/her by GPS or geolocation, and associate an entire web search history with your family, to de-anonymize the him/her to Google.

This app is usually supported by ads but the ads normally do not pop annoyingly on the screen while using it.

Usually there is an update readily available on your app store/play store. sometimes the update requires the user's approval but usually, it automatically updates whenever WiFi is available. 

Google Translate asks the user's permission to access his/her camera, microphone, cellular data for when WiFi isn't available and sometimes even the location for a more accurate translation of the language. 
Since the app asks the user's permission to access such information and even other apps on the user's phone, the app gives the authority to the user in controlling his/her privacy. He/she has the option to allow the google translate or decline the request.
