in 1967 the film was circulated by sending hard copies of the film to different cinemas, costing thousands of pounds; making it difficult to gain profit. In 2016 the film was circulated by distributing them online or by a cloud, this is much cheaper; only costing hundreds.

in 1967 platforms such as social media and the wide web didn't exist so there was only one way which the audience could access the film, through cinema. limiting the amount of profit. now in the 21st century we have the internet and loads of different media/online platforms that can circulate the film globally . so the remake of The Jungle Book gained far more publicity than the original. Meaning more money

differences between the 1967 and 2016:

the 1967 animation didn’t reflect on Mowgli’s background, but the 2016 film does. We learn more about his family history, specifically from Kaa’s hypnosis.

1. Kaa, the snake: In the animated movie, is a python from India; a comedy villain that entangles in himself in more than one occasion; A Difference of the intimidating new anaconda, whose voice in English is provided by Scarlett Johansson. The gender change was made becasue the director felt there were too many male characters in the original story. Although only appears once, her stealthy voice and elusive movements sure brings the more captivating and creepy moments of the Movie. I admit I got the willies.

2. The relationship between Mowgli and Shere Khan is much more complex: As in Kipling 's book, Shere Khan killed the father of Mowgli, not realizing he had left his son alive. At the beginning of the film there is a truce between all jungle animals because of water scarcity. Everyone gathers in a lake where the tiger and the child meet for the first time. This is an important change regarding the animated version, where they meet in the final part.

3. The King Louie, the orangutan: In the 1967 film is a common orangutan, a simian non-native of India in real life, but this version is a Gigantopithecus, an extinct primate that did exist in India, although probably they exaggerated its size a bit because he looked like an orange version of King Kong.

4. Akela, the wolf is killed by Shere Khan , while in the animation, he remains alive.

5. The red flower: In the animated version, King Loui barely mentions it in his song, but in this film it became an important element. The red flower is how the animals called the fire of humans. Mowgli even gets to the nearest village to steal a burning torch. Unfortunately, he accidentally burns part of the Jungle.

6. The death of Shere Khan: In the animated version does not happens, or at least not directly. This time, the tiger dies after falling from the branch of a dead tree into the flames. This event also differs from the original story where he is literally crushed by a stampede of oxen.

7. Mowgli’s fate: Perhaps the only disappointing part of the film. Mowgli stays in the jungle after defeating Shere Khan. I thought with this mature shade they were trying to score they should’ve kept the same ending from the animated version, where Mowgli meets a girl and goes with her to the village of humans.
