Robinson Crusoe is a story about many themes such as fear, money, and humanity. Fear is brought into the character as he survives the ship disaster and is forced to survive alone on a deserted island where no one knows he is alive. Money is introduced as the force when you have too much and then you don’t have any. For example, Crusoe lived in a middle class family where money was not an issue however, when he became stranded on the island money had no value. Humanity is introduced when Crusoe belonged to a middle class family and then he became enslaved and human dynamics took a change. A lesson to learn is humans are flesh and blood doesn’t matter what materialistic or monetary value they have. Kindness, caring, and humanity should come first.

This book teaches lessons that would captivate the reader within this age group to understand the lessons it entails. This book is a classic to the modern hit movie “Cast Away” where the character fights for survival and after many years comes out on the other end due to his perseverance. Although the book has more details on slavery and injustices. The overall theme would captivate an older audience including adults.
