At the beginning of the play we learn that Juliet is only fourteen years old. She is very young and inexperienced with what it is like to love someone. Juliet is asked by her mother how she feels about being married. Juliet responds by saying "It is an honor that I dream not of." (1.3.67) Juliet does not want to marry anyone at the beginning of Act 1. However, her mother wants Juliet to marry Paris so Juliet says she will look to see what he has to offer at the party the Capulet's are having that night. During the party Juliet does not every really have her eye on Paris she has her eye on Romeo. Eventually, Juliet meets Romeo. As they begin to talk Romeo begins to compare kissing Juliet to her religion to in a way to ¨trick" Juliet to kiss him. This shows Juliet to be naive because at the beginning of the night she was not thinking about marrying or meeting a man.The picture below is a picture of when Romeo and Juliet first met.

Since Juliet is very naive Romeo is able to talk Juliet into kissing him. Juliet then seems to instantly fall in love with Romeo. You can tell Juliet is very naive because at the beginning of the night she was not even thinking about falling in love or marrying anyone but, by the end of the night she thinks she is in love with Romeo. "Go ask his name.- If he be married my grave is to be my wedding bed." (1.3.132-133) After Juliet's encounter with Romeo she goes the Nurse to express how she feels. She thinks she loves him after only talking and kissing once. Juliet does not even know who Romeo really is (a Montague) at this point, which shows her to be naive because she did not even ask his name.

In doing this, she expresses how she does not know if Romeo is being serious about their relationship. Friar Laurence says "Wisely and slow. They stumble that run fast." (2.3.94) When Romeo and Juliet want to run off and get married the Friar warns them to slow down and get to know each other first.

The quote from the Friar in the above panel is telling the couple to slow down emotionally. Though all the warnings from people and not being entirely sure about marrying Romeo, Juliet still goes ahead with the marriage. The image below are of geraniums, this flower is said to represent stupidity, folly, and foolishness, which is how Juliet was acting with going ahead to marry Romeo.

"This is thy sheath; there rust, and let me die." ( 5.1.170) Juliet has now seen that her husband Romeo is dead. Juliet then decides to kill herself so she could be with Romeo for good in the after life. She figures it will not affect her family because she is already dead in their eyes. This will effect the Friar and the Nurse because they new about Juliet seeing Romeo. Friar Laurence is going to get blamed for the whole situation with the potion and Juliet and Romeos death. The picture below is a picture of Juliet killing herself after finding out Romeo poisoned himself.

This poem talks about remembering a first kiss and how two people fell instantly in love with one another, similar to Romeo and Juliet. "Spring love, innocent, and brief sheds long shadows down the pathway of age." This quote from the poem relates to Juliet because she is very young and still married Romeo. Their love was innocent and they did not want to cause any trouble they just loved each other.

When you look back at Juliet in the play "Romeo and Juliet" it is clear that characters emotions have a big effect on the actions they take. Juliet begins as a very young, naive, not quite mature young adult that then blossoms very quickly into what seems to be a mature young adult who fell in love with Romeo. A negative consequence in the story was Juliet (a Montague) falling love with Romeo (a Capulet). This ultimately lead to Juliet killing herself because Romeo and Juliet could not be together. The audience can see that you should not rush into things in a relationship and as a result things can become much more complicated.

The song foolish heart is about someone who is in love with the person they are with but, the person is not sure if the other person is going to hurt them or not and does not want to bear the heart break. This is how Juliet feels about Romeo because she is not entirely sure he is committed to the relationship they are in. For example in the song it says "Foolish heart, hear me calling Stop before you start falling Foolish heart, heed my warning." This quote from the song is related to Juliet because she is not sure of she is being foolish thinking Romeo is actually serious or if he really wants a relationship with her. Her foolish decision to go ahead and get married to Romeo will effect the Montague and Capulet families.
