         <description><![CDATA[<p>Infancy is considered birth - one years old. (Differences Between a Baby, Newborn, Infant, &amp; Toddler, 2022)</p><p><br></p><p>Some common characteristics may include motor skills; lifting head up, communication; babbling, cooing, blowing raspberries, and other sounds. (Healthy Lifestyle</p><p>Infant and toddler health, 2023)</p><p><br></p><p>Infants need around 16 hours of sleep, but only ever sleep for about 1-2 hours at a time. The breakdown is 8 hours at night and 8 hours during the day. (Infant Sleep, Stanford Medicine Children's Health, 2023)</p><p><br></p><p>Some challenges that can happen include, gas, waking up too many times, and needed motion to be able to sleep. (Common Baby Sleep Problems and What to Do About Them, 2021)</p><p><br></p><p>Sleep recommendations for infants may vary depending on the child, but the most common ones that will help them to stay asleep include; taking a bath before bed, dimming the lights when feeding, sing a lullaby, and rocking in a chair. (Babies and Sleep, 2023)</p>]]></description>

         <title>Toddlerhood</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Toddlerhood is considered ages one - three years old.(Differences Between a Baby, Newborn, Infant, &amp; Toddler, 2022)</p><p><br></p><p>Some common characteristics of a toddler may include; learning to walk, smiling for the first time, waving “bye-bye”, learning how to play, to speak, behave, and move (like crawling, walking, or jumping). (CDC, Child Development, 2021)</p><p><br></p><p>Toddlers need around 11-14 hours of sleep depending on their age. However, once they get to be able three years old they only need 10-13 hours of sleep. (Here’s How Much Sleep Toddlers Need, 2022)</p><p><br></p><p>Some challenges that can happen include; fear of the dark, bad dreams, snoring, sleep talking or walk, and too much stimulation. (Common Toddler Sleep Problems and What to Do About Them, 2022)</p><p><br></p><p>Sleep recommendations for toddlers are create and follow a soothing bedtime routine, no screen time and don't have too long of a nap during the day.          <description><![CDATA[<p>Childhood is considered six to twelve years old. (National Institutes of Health, 2023)</p><p><br></p><p>Some characteristics may include; creativity, self-confidence, compassion, curiosity, and respect. (15 Best &amp; Important Character Traits for Kids That All Parents Must Instill in Their Kids, 2023)</p><p><br></p><p>Children need around 9-11 hours of sleep. According to some statistics, 1 in 4 children are NOT getting enough sleep during the night. (Are Canadian children getting enough sleep?, Government of Canada, 2019)</p><p><br></p><p>Some challenges that can happen include; problems falling asleep, sleeping disorders, physical health, mental and physical well-being. (Common Sleep Challenges In Children: A Parent’s Quick Guide, 2023)</p><p><br></p><p>Sleep recommendations for children include; creating a solid bedtime routine, turning off electronics and other bright lights, putting on pajamas and brushing teeth, providing a light, healthy snack before bed, avoid caffeine, large meals, and sugary treats before bedtime. (Britannica, 2023)</p><p><br></p><p>Some common characteristics may include; rapid physical/biological changes, attraction towards the opposite sex, cognitive development and higher level of emotions. (Britannica, 2023)</p><p><br></p><p>Adolescences need around teens need 8-10 hours of sleep per night for their well-being. They often have a natural tendency to stay up late due to their changing biological clocks. (Teens and Sleep, 2023)</p><p><br></p><p>Some challenges that may happen to adolescence include; delayed sleep schedule and school start times, use of electronic devices right before going to sleep, sleep disorders and mental health problems. (Teens and Sleep, 2023)</p><p><br></p><p>Sleep recommendations for adolescence may include; good sleep hygiene, limited screen time, reduced caffeine, and a consistent sleep routine. (Sleep Problems in Middle Adulthood, 2023)</p><p><br/></p><p>Middle aged people need around seven hours. But everyone is deafferent which makes the sleep pattern interrupted. (Sleep Problems in Middle Adulthood, 2023)</p><p><br/></p><p>Some challenges that can happen include; hormonal changes, weight gain, sleep disorders. (A Good Night's Sleep, 2020)</p><p><br/></p><p>Some challenges that can happen with seniors sleep include; feeling sick or being in pain. Some medications that you take can keep you awake. (A Good Night's Sleep, 2020)</p><p><br/></p><p>Sleep recommendations include; follow a sleep schedule, develop a routine, avoid eating heavy meals before bed as this can upset your stomach, use low lighting when getting ready for bed and avoid screen time before bed.
