Hello, my name is Gary Jones currently I reside in Woodbridge Virginia. Ever since I was a toddler my parents tried their hardest to keep me busy whether it was sports, drawing, puzzles, legos, etc. Both of my parents are creative my dad is an artist he draws and my mom designs clothes this always pushed me to think outside of the box and showed me early interviews and work of Basquiat, Keith Haring, augusta savage, Alma Thomas, etc. growing up influenced my interest in art as I moved to 6 different states and would analyze the differences in the people, their styles and changes of scenery, also graffiti and wall murals always caught my eyes. Right now I work with film from super 8, vhs to 35mm film and also digital cameras (video and picture). One of the things that inspired me to engage in this is watching movies to create my own aesthetic for example the movie City of god where the main character is a young man who carries a camera and wants to capture everything around him with dreams of one day starting a successful life and escaping the dangerous brazil slums. I may not live in a favela but I can relate to carrying a camera around and creating a photo gallery of my life and other people's lives too. One day I want to have a successful clothing brand that I design, make movies, and have various art galleries around cities that have a young audience that may not have an art scene or place where kids could find their crowd.
