Gutenberg acquired a skill in metal working at a very young age He was later exiled from mainz and moved to Strasbourg France around 1429 and acquired a skill in gem cutting and taught a number of other people. Gutenberg later died around february 3 1468.

The printing press provided the ability to mass produce products. It made things like the bible significantly cheaper and more accessible to the public since not everything had to be handwritten. He is important to the renaissance because he made the ability to mass spread ideas through paper.

This meant that more people had the ability to learn from a much larger array of options. This was all largely due to the fact that before the printing press a copyist took 5 months to produce a single book while one man could produce 500 books in 5 months.
