Former President Theodore Roosevelt restored the American people's faith in government. He did this by helping the American people through his policies like trust-busting, creating the National Park System, and the Meat Inspection Act. These policies helped increase his popularity and helped him become named the "first modern president". Roosevelt had gained enough trust in the people to run and win a second term on his own and not as a vice-president. Roosevelt then created a third-party called "The Bull Moose Party", where in the election of 1912 according to Britanica, he was able to obtain 88 electoral votes. This led Roosevelt to having the most electoral votes for a third-party candidate ever. While he did not win the election of 1912, this shows that the people had faith in him for the government till the very end of him being president. For how much the people had faith in the government during Roosevelt's presidency, I have given him an A.

Theodore Roosevelt had an incredibly large focus on trust-busting. Through the Sherman-Anti Trust Act, Roosevelt started suits against 44 large corporations in an attempt to trust-bust according to Brittanica. Through these lawsuits he wanted to break up large corporations in order to make a fairer market for competition and open up industries. The square deal is another popular economic program Roosevelt focused on. The square deal began after a coal strike in 1902 according to the TR Center. This coal strike led Roosevelt to focus on the relationship between large corporations and labor unions. This was a large move forward in protecting labor unions. Roosevelt also increased government spending on long term projects such as the Panama canal. This project allowed more trade for the US economy and had long term improvements on the United States economy. For Roosevelts work in large corporations, labor unions, and long-term financial improvements, Roosevelt has earned an A in economy.

Theodore (Teddy) Roosevelt is a grade A president. He has the upmost personal integrity through fighting for what he believed in. He worked in creating domestic policies that truly benefited America and would continue to beyond his years. His foreign policies not only found ways to benefit America, but bring peace to multiple countries. His economic policies allowed for the US economy to not be monopolized and allow for competition among different corporations. But through all of his work, Roosevelt was able to keep people's faith in the government enough to the point of winning president on his own for a second term and having the most electoral votes for a third-party in the race of 1912. President Roosevelt did many great things in his time as President to earn an A.

Theodore (Teddy) Roosevelt is fascinating to me because he had a sudden and unexpected rise to his presidency due to McKinley's assassination. What he does with his sudden rise to the presidency is also interesting. His work with national parks and trust-busting are significant in American history. I also think his creation of the Bull Moose Party is something interesting that I wanted to learn more about too.

Roosevelt worked in great deals to conserve natural resources within the United States. He did this mainly through his works in the National Parks creation. According to the National Park Service, Roosevelt signed legislation to create five national parks in his time in office, allow for presidents to proclaim national monuments, and to put historic structures into federal protection. His work in this allowed for the National Park Service to expand way beyond his time. This coined him the name of the "conservation president." Roosevelt also created The Meat Inspection Act (1906). This act according to Britannica, made sure that all meat was slaughtered, packaged, and processed sanitarily. It also ensured that meat was marketed and sold correctly so that consumers knew what they were consuming. This act impacted imported meat as well. This also involved the U.S. Department of Agriculture in making sure they held up standards within the meat being slaughtered for sale. Another domestic policy Roosevelt had was utilizing the Sherman-Anti Trust Act to end monopolies according to the Theodore Roosevelt Center. Roosevelt used the Justice Department to really utilize the act during his term. Roosevelts dismantling of the Northern Securities Corporation, a holding company for railroads. I gave Roosevelt an A for domestic policies because he had policies that would grow to help the American people greatly through having historical places and protected land as well as help them have safe meat to consume. He also helped enact a policy that existed but was not very active.

The Panama Canal was the most impactful foreign policy of Roosevelt's presidency. The Panama Canal Zone allowed for quick access to both coasts of the United States. Roosevelt helped Panama succeed and started work on the Panama Canal. According to the National Archives, Roosevelt would issue a corollary to the Monroe Doctrine. Roosevelt felt that the United States was obligated to protect countries in the Western Hemisphere. Roosevelt stated that European countries were not to colonize any territories in the Western Hemisphere. This helped increase influence among Latin America. Another large policy that Roosevelt did, that even earned him a Nobel Peace Prize was negotiating peace in the Russo-Japanese war. According to the Nobel Peace Prize website, Roosevelt was the first statesman to receive a Nobel Peace Prize. He negotiated Peace by bringing both sides of the war to New Hampshire to negotiate a treaty. Roosevelt had foreign policies that would ultimately help foreign countries to great extents. One of his policies so great that he would win a Nobel Peace Prize. For this I believe Roosevelt has earned an A in foreign policies.

I think Roosevelt had great personal integrity. He had things he stood for very clearly and was not afraid to fight for them. This can be seen in his work in trust-busting with going after 44 different large corporations. This can also be seen with his work within the National Parks System and setting the system up for success beyond his years. Also, within his foreign policies and him wanting to bring peace and better America. He did this through the Russo-Japanese war where he won a Nobel Peace Prize, through his work with the Panama Canal and through the Monro doctrine so the western hemisphere could be protected from the European countries. Overall, Theodore Roosevelt was a man who was not afraid to be himself and act upon what he believed was right. This earns him an A in personal integrity.
