Most of the time, when you are not listening to music, you are just hearing words spoken, quite plainly most of the time compared to music. It is usually very clear what tone and emotion someone is trying to come across with when speaking, but with music, it is sort of a mystery that the listener gets to interpret in whatever way they choose. Music is a sort of escape from reality, where you can sit and relax and forget about your troubles just for a few moments. While I love songs that put me in a positive mood, I also love to hear relatable, emotional, raw lyrics, where you can feel the experience or inspiration the artist pulled from. A typical musical encounter and experience for me on a daily basis is when I make my train commute to UNT. I put my earbuds in, turn the volume up, and lean my head on the glass window. This is my relaxing moment before a hectic day at school, a time of day that I always look forward to. His music is guitar-driven, groovy, "old-school pop," but not like most pop you hear on the radio. His music is very distinct from the indie pop genre. One thing I love about BORNS is that he has an androgynous aura, where he breaks boundaries of masculinity and femininity in his falsetto vocals as well as his bright and bold clothing style (and look at that hair!).

Many of their fans, including myself, believe their concerts are even greater than their studio versions of songs, because they add so many incredible twists and features that take real musical talent to pull off. I hope one day I can see them live and experience this in person!
