Only 700 survivors and over 2000 passengers died. 

The titanic was supposedly “unsinkable” until the ship had hit an ice berg. The ice berg was so large it had scratched and dented the ship and cracked the windows which had flooded the ship. 

It was 882 feet (269 metres) in length and 175 feet (53 metres) in height. The ship had 900 crew members. 

Over half the people on board could have survived if all of the space available on the lifeboats was used
