Prior to University I have had very little experience using a range of different software to produce work for projects.

I was unable to attend our presentation so recorded myself presenting and embedded this into our presentation slides.

I produced the survey for our primary data collection having to learn how to use Microsoft forms.

I helped with the use of Excel to produce figures from our primary data collection

We began using Microsoft word much more in the production of to do lists and notes from meetings.

Used Canva for the first time to produce our poster for the poster presentation.

Developed the skill of using PebblePad.

Learning how to record myself using my computer helped to develop my software competency as it was not something I had done before. This will be a useful skill in the future if I have to submit a video of myself speaking for jobs or placements if I cannot attend in person.

Producing the Microsoft form I found very challenging. This developed my skill as we had a range of multiple choice as well as long answer questions. In addition to this I had to branch the questions to ensure that only relevant questions were asked to people.

The use of Excel to produce figures aided in my skill development as we produced a range of different tables from data. Most of these tables were in styles I had not used before and was different to the figures I produced for other modules.

This aided in the project development as it meant that we were able to produce a survey which had effective branching and appropriate answer templates.

Being able to record my part in the presentation meant that no one else had to present for me. In addition it meant that I could provide more information as the slides I had written as well as researched the specific area. This meant I was still able to deliver the specific information I had found which would have been difficult if someone else had presented my slides.

The use of Microsoft word helped to develop my skills as I produced lists as well as tables. In addition I had to ensure that I was presenting the information which would make sense to others in my group. Other team members would feedback that the notes did not make sense so I would edit these to be more concise and clear with headings. The more I used word the better my presentation of information became. I was able to become more concise and clear with information. I feel this also helped to develop my communication skills.

This aided the project progression as it meant that there was a constant record of what had been discussed in meetings and the allocation of work allowing those who did not attend to read and remain up to date with the work.

The use of Canva to make the poster developed my skills as it was a new software to me and I feel I was able to produce an effective poster from this. For Canva I had to share the document with the team as well as ensuring spacing was correct and the different sections had the appropriate size text box.

This aided the project progression as it allowed us to produce a creative and concise poster for our poster presentation.

For this individual portfolio and the Team portfolio I have had to use PebblePad another software I have not used before. I have had to learn how to import files and pictures as well as text and creating new pages.
