As well as making a great tool for outreach during the school holidays, this resource can also be adapted for different contexts:

• The Bible stories or the short talks/object lessons could form part of an all-age talk or an assembly

• The activities in the Action stations could be prayer stations or part of a Messy Church activity.

• The conversation starters from the ‘Power up’ Action stations work really well as questions for older youth, or even in an all-age café church setting.

Wave Worship meets on the third Sunday afternoon of the month 3 till approx 4.30. 

The service is a short simple one with one theme  running throughout. The service is simple, interactive and fun .

They use Makaton and visual aids throughout the service.

After the worship part we do a craft activity linked to the theme  and we always end the service with coffee and cake.

All Welcome

The coffee morning is run by a mixed ability team .

They serve delicious hot and cold drinks , scrumptious scones and cakes .

It is table service and all our menus ,signs and order forms are done using the inprint communication package so are in word and symbol . 

I’m 19 years of age and a member of Emmanuel Methodist Church near Barnsley. I have been attending a Methodist Church since I was three, but feel I came to faith at around the age of 12 while attending Cliff Festival at Cliff College, where I have recently been studying theology. After the festival, I began volunteering at church, helping serve coffee, doing readings and then becoming a Worship Leader.

The more I helped, the stronger I found my faith. I am now in training to become a Local Preacher.

I’m passionate about making sure all young people in the church are heard and valued. I have seen first-hand how much creativity, energy and faith our youth have. I really want to keep experiencing that, and keep guiding everyone to encourage this in all aspects of church life.

I want to help encourage all young people to understand that God loves them and to be as excited about their faith as I am and to help them do more in their churches.

I am really looking forward to meeting young people from all over the Connexion, hearing their stories, and especially learning about what matters most to them. I want to visit as many districts as possible this year and to encourage all young voices to shape the future of the Church.

Outside of church life I enjoy playing board games and long walks (but not at the same time!).

Scripture Union exists to see a new generation with a vibrant, personal faith in Jesus

95% of under-18s don't go to church, but they desperately need to discover the life-changing good news of the gospel.

We equip local churches to step out and Reveal Jesus to 'the 95', helping them make and build on meaningful connections so that many more children and young people have impactful opportunities to explore the Bible, respond to Jesus and grow in faith. 

Through resources, events, training and one-to-one coaching, we are mobilising an ever-growing network of churches that share our vision, working together to change the lives of the youngest generations.

As a Local Agent of Change, participants will be asked, with the help of a named adult Local Supporter, to talk to their friends and then tell the Church about the things that matter to children and young people. This will help to shape the work of the Methodist Church across Britain and, most importantly, the work of their local church.

Participating in the programme will:

• start children and young people on a vocational pathway that may lead them to take up other opportunities and roles

• help children and young people to grow in their discipleship

• encourage children and young people to take action in their local church and community

• enable children and young people to engage more in, and contribute to, the life of the Church

• offer opportunity for meeting and working with other children and young people from around Britain.

  
  

Please note: The safeguarding of the children and young people taking part in this programme rests with the named Local Supporter and the local church/circuit.

How does the programme work?

Twice a year the Local Supporter will be sent a link to a 'Use Your Voice' consultation pack. The Local Agents of Change will use these packs, with the help of the Supporter, to run consultations with their friends and peers. The Local Agents will then be invited to feedback what they find, including at online gatherings with the Youth President and Youth Reps. More importantly, they will be asked to share their findings with their local church/circuit. The local church/circuit will be asked to commit to praying for, listening to and responding with the Local Agents of Change.

How do we sign-up?

1. A named adult (the Local Supporter) signs up to run this programme locally with any number of children and young people, before end of December 2025. Use this form to sign-up.

2. We then contact a named minister to ask them to confirm that the church/circuit will support both the Local Supporter and the Local Agent(s) of Change.

3. In January 2026, we send a welcome email to all our Local Supporters and the first 'Use Your Voice' pack.

The Connexional Team is excited to offer youth groups from one District the opportunity to travel to Taizé for a week of worship, reflection and the experience of being in community with young people from all over the world and from a wide range of Christian traditions. This trip will take place from 26 July to 2 August 2026, and is limited to 50 participants, including youth group leaders. Each participant will receive Connexional funding and would be expected to raise £50 towards the costs, which could be raised within the local churches. The minimum age is 15. 

Youth group leaders will receive full support from the Connexional Team, including help with risk assessments, safeguarding and trip preparation; a member of the Connexional Team will also accompany the trip and offer further assistance throughout the stay. Places are limited and we are looking to work with one District per year. We hope that this will become an annual offering, working with different Districts each year.

3Generate - The Methodist Church

Through the Roof is a charity helping churches to be more inclusive for people with disabilities. One way they are doing that is through encouraging churches host a Disability Awareness Sunday.

This session is designed for group leaders preparing to bring children to 3Generate for the first time. We’ll guide you through everything you need to know, including how to book your group, understanding leader-to-child ratios, and safeguarding needs. 

Helpful tips, practical advice, and have a chance to ask questions in a supportive space. Whether you're feeling unsure or just want to be fully prepared, this session will help you feel confident and ready for a safe, positive 3Generate experience with your group.

• enable, encourage and enthuse children and young people to get involved in every aspect of Church life

• represent and host 3Generate, the Children and Youth Assembly of the Methodist Church

• listen to the voices of children and young people from across the Methodist Church in Britain and to be advocate for them in the life of the Church at every level – this may involve a lot of independent travel, and evening and weekend travel

• influence the decision-making of the Church by sharing the opinions and priorities of children and young people

Youth President 2027-28

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone aged 18-21 to speak on behalf of children and young people of the Methodist Church reporting to the annual Methodist Conference about what children and young people have been saying and what resolutions (decisions/recommendations) have been put forward.

This role involves:

• attending Methodist Conference 26 – 30 June 2027 in Telford (it is an essential part of the role that the Rep is present for the duration of the Methodist Conference)

• working with the Youth President to prepare a report to Methodist Conference

• attending online meetings to prepare for Methodist Conference

• reading complex documents in advance of, and during, the Conference (there is much to read)

• helping to present the report to Methodist Conference, as well as preparing to speak out on issues as you contribute to the debates

• feeding back to children and young people, in appropriate ways, about Methodist Conference

• joining the other Youth Reps on the Youth Rep Programme, attending residential weekends and online meetings.

Applicants must be a member of the Methodist Church (or will be by the time of the Conference).

This is a volunteer role from December 2026 to October 2027.

Working together, Girls' Brigade England and Wales and the Methodist Church, are offering a webinar to explore, discuss and understand how to talk to our young people about the joys and challenges they face in our rapidly evolving digital age.

Led by the Girls' Brigade Youth President, Eloise Dale and assisted by the Girls' Brigade Youth Ambassadors, Mollie Maliqi and Olivia Hurley, this webinar will explore how to stay safe online, the possibility of a social media ban (and young people’s opinions on the subject) and the effects social media has on young people's mental health.

In recent times, the Girls’ Brigade has received widespread praise for proactively addressing online harms through gender-specific safeguarding. The organisation is recognises online safety as a core priority and runs educational programmes that empower girls to navigate the digital world safely, critically, and with confidence.

The Young Adult Mission Placement Scheme (YAMPS) is a national programme of the Methodist Church offering paid, short-term placements for young adults aged 18–30.

Who can get involved?

• Hosts – churches, circuits, and organisations can apply for funding to create placements in partnership with young adults.

• Young Adults – explore placements advertised by hosts, gain skills, receive mentoring, and explore your sense of calling.

• Mentors – walk alongside young adults as they reflect on their placement experiences.
