At this time, you have now completed Project Implicit and have taken the Weapons IAT and perhaps other IATs out of curiousity.

Please post on this padlet the following:

1. What do you think is the difference between implicit and explicit biased?

2. What did you learn from this exam?

3. Did you agree with your result?

4. How will this affect the way you interact with female juveniles at the Okeechobee residential center in January?

ALL RESPONSES ARE ANONYMOUS AND WILL NOT BE REVEALED TO MYSELF OR OTHER PARTICIPANTS.
1. I think that the difference is that with one you are open about and the other is in your mind but you do not share it.

2. I learned that we all are bias in one way or another but its about how you handle it.

3. I didn't exactly agree with my results I thought that they were slightly off.

4. It will not affect me and how I plan to approach the interactions I will have with the female juveniles.

1. I think the difference is that one is what you openly share with others while the other is how you might subconciously act.

2. I learned that sometime our life experiences can influence our bias.

3. I slightly agreed with my result. I also think that the result could be influenced by the ability to respond. Additionally, our lives influence how we feel and learning subconscious responses could be beneficial.

4. I think I will be able to keep more of an open mind and not initially jump to conclusions.

2. I learned that I can sometimes be biased towards certain groups of people.
3. I agreed with my result a little bit.
4. It will affect the way I interact with the females because it makes me more aware of how biased I can be and will keep me more aware mentally when dealing with the females.

1. Implicit bias may not be known to the person who holds the bias. Implicit bias does impact behavior though. Explicit bias is often known to the person who holds the bias.

2. I learned I have additional bias that I did not know I had. It is always incredible revealing to see what implicit biases we may hold without even realizing them or agreeing with them on a conscious level.

3. I did agree with my result.

4. I will be more mindful of my implicit bias and check my thoughts and behvaior more often.

I learned that we cannot escape the biases we have no matter how much we cover them up.

3. I agree with my results, however, I feel that the test does not portray an accurate way to determine biases.

4. This will not affect the way that I originally entended to inteact with the juveniles.

I agreed with most of my results and it also opened my eyes to a few hidden bias I have.

4. I will be more cautious of how I act but already intended to interact in a reasonable manner with the female juveniles.

1. Implicit bias are the unknown, unconscious attitudes we have.

Explicit bias are the known, conscious attitudes we have.

They can both be used towards a multitude of things

2. That I have a slight association of Black Americans with weapons compared to White Americans.

3. I do not agree with my results because I think I view White Americans to have more associations with weapons. I feel that a majority of the Black Americans these days are falsely accused.

4. I don't really see how the racial profiling would effect how I interact with the females at the Okeechobee center. Because the career I have chosen to follow I need to be able to accept all races as they are and not have bias towards any groups or anything anyone has done.

1.I think the difference between implicit and explicit bias is that with implicit
bias you keep it to yourself where as explicit bias is more out there and
talked about

2. I learned that although we are taught that it is wrong to be bias towards
anyone or anything, as humans it is in our nature to be biased or to judge
someone automatically.

3. Based on the recent occurrences in our country I am not surprised to see
my results and I do partially agree with them.

4. This activity allowed me to realize how quick we are to judge. I believe
that this will help me to be careful and really step away from that way of
thinking in order to positively impact these girls.
