The ‘Fast fashion’ article focuses on the increasing rates of materials and clothing being manufactured, this has resulted in mounting concerns surrounding the impact on environmental, worker and animal welfare. The role of financial reporting focuses more on the impact of financial priming on ethical judgements and psychological distance and how it can influence the effects of financial priming.

This theory interrelates with SDG12: Responsible Production and Consumption, due to the fact the ethics of care refers to compassion and empathy of individuals, when this is shown for workers, communities and those struggling around the world with the pollution problems of overproduction or overconsumption of products, made by big clothing brands for example. SDG12 does not just focus on being responsible and reasonable when producing products for consumption, yet it is about caring for the well-being of those at harm. Furthermore, sustainable practices such as recycling old clothing materials should be guided by a sense of care and responsibility for those individuals in harm's way.

This can be identified in the article, 'Fast Fashion', as the big brands such as ZARA and H&M for example continue to create clothing for a new season every year. The overproduction is clearly shown with no socially responsible examples being shown. Within the article examples of solutions can be shown, such as using recycled clothing and even renting out items of clothing to be shared within communities, however, big brands are money-hungry businesses that don't seem to care about where their products end up. During 'Fast Fashion' and 'Financial Priming' the two articles can relate to each other through the low levels of social responsibility, as the articles mention the fact that big brands are not going above and beyond to help decrease pollution or factors causing it. 'Financial Priming' converses about the corruption within big brand companies, by analysis of employees, where some employees are taking money from businesses without them noticing, the overproduction of goods/services has allowed employees to steal money from these big brands, thus causing even more corruption, showing us overproduction is causing negatives. SDG12 was made for this exact reason by the United Nations, so why hasn't anything been done?

While all these actions are great, they all have the same floor, scale the scale in which humans have able to actively help. Many people can’t afford to give much money, any resources and especial time, this is where governments need to step in and get involved. Governments need to provide the resources to facilitate the people that want to volunteer. This could mean things like creating donations bayes in local areas with easy access and most importantly making sure they are promoted correctly so that people are aware of them. The government could have the stations and bayes preset up only leaving a need for volunteers. It differs from right to wrong based on how it makes people feel. For example, if the outcome fosters happiness or pleasure it is deemed good and vice versa. One of the main principles of utilitarianism is that pleasure and/or happiness is the only thing that has intrinsic value. The article found that consumers feel happier and more comfortable when they know brands and companies, they buy from take an interest in the welfare of animals and the environment. This relates to utilitarianism as the outcome for a company making ethically conscious decisions and taking care in the welfare of animals and environment which leads to happier and more pleased consumers. The theory of utilitarianism relates to SDG12: sustainable consumer and production patterns as the whole point of SDG12 is to get sustainable practises in place which leads to a better overall result, this subsequently leads to a healthier environment and healthier people who feel better knowing that what can be done to help the environment and the people who live in it is being done. Not only does this benefit humans but also has a positive impact on all life above and below the surface which is the goal for SDG14: life below water and SDG15: life on land. Keeping animals alive is vital, all animals a part of an intricate and delicate web of interconnecting ecosystems that rely on each organism to perform their role for it to function. The results of the actions are moot. He believed that a person's true reasons behind their morality can be determined by the action itself with no need to observe the results. The people that were surveyed all indicated that consumers were more likely to shop at and spend money at companies and brands that take interest in the effects caused on animals and the environment. Kant's theory of good will tells us it's our duty to do the right thing. The SDG’s are designed to help the environment, flora and fauna and of course human survival and liveability. To act and partate in ways that aim to achieve the UN’s SDG’s would be considered doing the right thing.

According to Kantian ethics, moral behavior's should be motivated by a sense of obligation rather than by personal preference or self-interest. This concept argues that people and organisations should have a willingness to act on obligation. Act in a way that supports sustainable consumption and production patterns in the context of SDG 12, not just because it immediately benefits them but also because it is the right thing to do, to ensure ecologically friendly practices. This may entail making sacrifices or incurring additional costs.

Obligation for Future Generations: Kant's philosophy acknowledges our responsibility for future generations. This principle emphasises the need to maintain sustainable consumption and production patterns that do not exhaust resources or result in irreparable environmental damage, which is closely aligned with the objectives of SDG 12. SDG3: Good Health and Wellbeing can be impacted upon by corruption due to the fact that mental and emotional health and wellbeing can be impacted upon, as corruption of businesses can lead to losses of jobs, sadness, anxiety and depression for individuals within the business due to the fact that the masterminds behind large businesses often take plenty of the money for themselves, leaving little to none for employees. With Australia ranking 18th in corruption status (United Nations, 2022), we are a country that has less corruption compared to countries such as South Sudan and Iran, which rank 180th (South Sudan) and 150th (Iran), in both these countries the SDGs are not aknowledged at all by the local communities and lack in good health and wellbeing (SDG3).
