While the destruction of habitats is a negative aspect, natural disasters keep populations in check and aid in keeping a population below their carrying capacity. This unfortunate turn of events relates to APES because the bones uncovered from the owl pellet show the diversity of the ecosystem from where the owl lived. In this specific owl pellet, two rat skulls and one mouse skull were uncovered, illustrating the diversity of this particular owls diet.
