Over the next five years, she conducted stem cell research and in vitro experiments for interleukin while serving as a bench scientist and leukemia researcher. Mary Hiller built upon this experience in her next position as the medical information director for the Palo Alto Medical Foundation (now known as Sutter Health), coordinating medical information access for more than 200 doctors and thousands of patients. In 1986, Mary Hiller joined United Media as a syndicated writer. For the next decade she researched and wrote an award-winning column on medical research and health care that was read by 35 million each week throughout the United States and several other countries. She also interacted with readers by responding to letters. Since 2000, Mary Hiller has served as executive director of knowledge engineering and health systems at MedExpert International in Redwood City, California.
