The Lab skill I developed and was surprised I didn't know how to use was a thermometer even though it's something we use in our everyday life sometimes I never saw one in real life or used one. But my group mates seemed to know how to use it but I didn't know how to use it so when it was my turn to check the temperature of the experiment I had to ask how to use it because I didn't know. I thought they were gonna make fun of me but they didn't and showed me how. 

How will you continue to develop the lab skills you identified in the above question?

I think I learned how to use a thermometer but more importantly I learned how to ask for help and not be afraid to ask even though they were my peers and that is probably the thing I will take away the most.

 

What conceptual understandings did you develop as a result of the lab skills you

identified?

That when you need help or you don’t understand something and your too afraid to speak up. You have to come out of your shell and speak up because if you don’t it will only make things worse and I promise that no matter what you will not be hurt.

I learned how to use my advantages to the best of my best. I had to make a supergraphic and I don’t know how to draw very well. Eugene had introduced me to a website called canvas and it was amazing I was the only one using it when he told us to and it was so helpful and having those advantages made it so much easier for me.

What were your challenge areas, and how did you, or how will you address these

challenges?

The challenge I had that was hardest was definitely time management at the time we had a lot of assignments due and I wasn’t focused on the supergraphic and I had to turn in it one day late which I am not very proud of but next time there will definitely be management in my time because in highschool that is something very important and I will make a better well thought out schedule to make sure I have time to do the work.

The lab skills I developed during this unit were odd one. I had a group of only me and one other person. Everyone else had a group of 3 and it put us at a disadvantage because 3 people can bring more ideas then 2. So we really had to put our heads together and become creative. So we made our disadvantage our advantage and made the best car in my opinion. 

How will you continue to develop the lab skills you identified in the above question? 

Definitely just have the mentally that you're not at a disadvantage just because you have less people in your group and if you have the mindset for creativity and will get you very far in life and just being positive and doing this assignment and having that “disadvantage” made me realize that.

What conceptual understandings did you develop as a result of the lab skills you

identified? 

Having a better understanding and mindset going into projects or assignments will help you and make the work easier mentally.

I learned how to calculate the speed of things and write the unit it belongs to and I learned how to assess word problems and figure them out and write the answer.

What were your challenge areas, and how did you, or how will you address these challenges?

The challenges for me were the word problems, for me word problems can look hard and be confusing sometimes so it makes me want to give up. But what I did for me not to give up was underlining the important words that might not help for other people but it definitely helped me.
