The whole world was in a global depression because when the US was going through it, trade had to stop either due to the increased tariffs or the was nothing left to trade. Unemployment was a big issue, going back to trades, if a country couldn't trade with another then that meant they no longer had the products and would be out of a job and no money to be made. As recently learned, no money = banks crashing, which will help lead into the Great Depression. With everyone vulnerable, then more of a way that bad people could get into power (hence Hitler).

Areas like Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, and North and South all were affected by the collapse. Trade between these regions fell to 30 percent since everyone was raising their tariffs in hopes of helping their industries. Around the world, a estimated total of 30 million people were unemployed. The war may have caused the Great Depression because of the political decisions after the war including war reparations for Germany. Imposition on congressional tariffs on European goods that caused the collapse of the stock market crash of 1929.

To complete this task, T'Niya wrote how the Great Depression effected people globally and Faran wrote about how WW1 caused the Great Depression.

After World War I everyone wanted to get back to normalcy. They wanted to have fun but they bought in credit which cause the Great Depression. Speculation in every American made them invest in the stock market and when it crashed, the whole world was in shock. Unemployment increased as many workers were laid off from work. Businesses did not have workers or people to buy from them.

-Something that I have learned about the Great Depression is Black Monday and Tuesday, October 28th and 29th. Those were the days where the stock market went down by 23%. The three major causes of the Great Depression is the speculation, the economy, and people buying the stock market with credit. With the speculation, the stock market was growing too fast, making the values less than what they actually are. The economy was slowing down but the market continued to rise as the people were struggling. People were buying credit when they didn't have the money to fully get what they wanted and so they'll put down a payment and pay off the rest.
-Another thing that I have learned about the Great Depression is about the bull market and the bull run. The bull market happened on October 24th, 1929 and what it was about is 13 million people sharing their trades causing the stock market to make a turn for the worse. The bull run was when millions of paper where taking out their stocks and money before it crashed and they were trying to sell what they can and it caused problems among the citizens.

I learned about the two Italian men during the Red Scare that were convicted of murder that i did not know about. I learned more about flappers and their role in society during this time. I learned more about Hoover's presidency and how he did little to help during the depression.
I learned about how the stock market crashed and what the causes were. I learned about credit and stocks and how they caused the banks to close and people to loose their life savings. I also learned about the new appliances during this time and how it helped women do things better around the house.Overall I learned a a lot about the great depression. Thanks Warren. Appreciate you.

One of the things I learned was that the Depression was not only in the US but there was also a depression in Europe. That was because of the damages caused by WWI. I also learned that there was 30 million people were unemployed around the world during the depression. The depression in Europe caused for a rise in military dictatorships because the people were desperate for change and wanted anyone that could make a change.
I learned about the different acts that raised tariffs such as the Hawley-Smoot Tariff Act. I learned that Hoover believed in the trickle down effect. This was when taxes on the wealthy would be reduced to stimulate businesses investments in the short term and benefit society in the long term.

I learned a few things in the unit. Although I knew about the great depression before this unit, I did not know all the causes and effects in depth as I do now. This Unit taught me many good lessons for life and mainly the consequences for wrongly using credit.
The main cause for the great depression would have to be wrongly using credit. The introduction of installment plans in the roaring twenties enticed people to buy products that they could not actually afford. People were putting things on credit and not paying for them. This caused the economy to become very unstable. Even worse, people were allowed to buy stocks on margin which was only paying for ten percent of them but still owning them. This caused a false bull market and eventually the prices would have to come back down. People who did not get out of the market in time lost their whole life savings. Also, banks were running out of money because of bank runs which were when many people went to retrieve their money from the bank at the same time. Banks were forced to close because they did not have any more money and for this reason, people who did not get their money out in time, lost it all.
This taught the country a lesson and now banks and other places that give out loans can check a person's credit score to better guess if they will pay the money back or not. The US also had the FDIC now which protects a person's money if a bank closes or the economy crashes. Overall, the great depression was a horrible time, but it helped the country in the long run.

I have learned the more political aspects about the Great Depression era such as The Red Scare which was driven by the fear of Americans due to communism. Many unethical things happened during this time such as the Sacco and Vanzetti trial. They were falsely accused of committing a murder just for being Italian. I also learned that America essentially brought it on themselves by not controlling their spending in the Roaring 20's and the government not regulating said spending. President Herbert Hoover barely helped with the Great Depression. He believed in rugged individualism where people of the country basically tried to fend for themselves. He only began helping at the very end which lead to him not being reelected and President FDR winning the race. FDR strove to end the Depression. He had New Deals and believed in the three R's: relief, recovery, and reform. He was way more liked than Hoover and worked hard to fix the economy. He tried to provide jobs through the military and he held fireside chats on the radio to try and comfort Americans. During the Great Depression, 30% of Americans were unemployed. However, that is only an overall percentage as that also meant that almost entire states were unemployed. There are images of men in full business suits outside of soup kitchens. I also learned that the Great Depression was not strictly an American issue. Many countries had an economic downfall due to high tariffs and loss of trade partners. The Great Depression also caused a rise in fascism and militarism in Germany which offhandedly fueled Hitler and lead to World War 2. Around 30 million people around the entire world were unemployed at this time.

what i learned from this assignment is that many reforms and enactments are still in effect to this day. one of them is the FDIC, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, is what was put in place by FDR to make sure that money can be insured by depositors. this was put in place once money from the Great Depression went poof once the market crashed and everyone lost their life savings. while researching i found out that the common farmer was in much dire need instead of the common person. since farmers needed to consistently take out loans for growing crops they were always in the hole and once the Great Depression hit they were hit even harder. the use of credit was the major reason why the stock market fell and the Great Depression happened.
while doing research on FDR i found out that he made a 3 day holiday for banks to cool off the market and to restore some balance in between. this saved about 1000 banks and made it sure that they will continue to help out.

I learned from this project that the stock market crashed in October 29,1929. Many bank runs came of this. Many people tried to get their money out before the banks ran out of money but in the end just took the banks out of business. Hoover was the president during this time. He believed in rugged individualism and volunteerism. He was known as the president who built the Hoover dam. Many people had depression humor such as hoover flags, hoover blankets, hoover leather and Hooverville. Many Americans thought of depression as their own fault. The stock market crashed because of the system of buying on credit and installment plans. Also buying on margin was a major cause of the great depression.

People tried to get their money out the banks but because everyone could do it, the banks was closing because they ran out of money to help people. Many people died from being unemployed because they couldn't afford anything. There were about 30 million unemployed people during this time. The stock market crash in 1929, when everything started to happened, people started to come homeless and poor. Banks started to go out for business because many people came to get their money out their savings account and banks started to run out of money.

Something that I have learned about the Great Depression is many people suffered hard through this period of time. Many could not afford to feed there families or afford a home to stay in. Individuals lost lots of their money that they could not get out of the bank in time. A major cause of this happening to families was the Stock market crashing, causing many to go into a panic. This was a period of time where many were poor and had hardly nothing left.

And the collapse in raw material and agricultural commodity prices led to social unrest, resulting in the rise of military dictatorships that promised to maintain order around the world. The Great Depression was a global economic crisis that may have been triggered by political decisions including war reparations post-World War I, protectionism such as the imposition of congressional tariffs on European goods or by speculation that caused the Stock Market Collapse of 1929. The recovery from the Great Depression was spurred largely by the abandonment of the gold standard and the ensuing monetary expansion. The economic impact of the Great Depression was enormous, including both extreme human suffering and profound changes in economic policy.

Hoover believed in rugged individualism and did not do anything until his last years of presidency. He created jobs when he made the Hoover Dam and soup kitchens. The Great Depression was caused by consumerism and speculation where many people invested in the stock market and lost large amounts of money when it crashed.
What I learn about the Great Depression is that the Presidents saw this coming and didn't do anything to stop it from happening. I had already knew what FDR did to help the US get out of the Depression. I did not know that Hoover was in a great place to help and didn't. The Great Depression was caused by everyone and everyone wanted to blame on someone else. It is like today when people don't want to take the blame for their actions.

The Great Depression has been one of my favorite times in history to learn about. Throughout this section I have learned many things. The Great Depression was a worldwide economic depression that lasted 10 years. It began on “Black Thursday," in 1929. Over the next four days, stock prices fell and that led to the stock market crash of 1929 . After the stock market crashed it was made worse by the 1930s Dust Bowl. President Franklin D. Roosevelt responded to the depression with programs known as the New Deal. During the Great Depression the American people were affected drastically. The Great Depression affected all aspects of society. Unemployment had risen from 3 percent to 25 percent of the nation’s workforce. The Depression caused many farmers to lose their farms. At the same time, years of over growing and drought created the “Dust Bowl”, which destroying production in many places. Thousands of these farmers and other were left unemployed and were forced to migrate in search of work. Many ended up living as homeless “hobos.” Others moved to shantytowns called “Hoovervilles," named after the President Herbert Hoover.
