I have worked in the Childcare Industry for 20 years. I started my career as a Childminder working at home to develop my skills. I was able to access grant money from the Prince's Trust to open a Children's Nursery to provide childcare for birth to 5 years and also a wrap around service for an Out of School Club. I had the opportunity to study at Northumbria University where I completed my BA Honours Degree in Early Years Practice and then completed my Early Years Teachers Status. I really enjoy working for Northumberland Learning & Skills to provide opportunities for learners' who have the enthusiasm to work in the Childcare Sector. I have worked within the Early Years Workforce for around 20 years. I first started by achieving my NNEB Diploma in Nursery Nursing. I gained valuable experiences within day care and nursery settings. Once I had my own children I decided to go into Childminding. I ran my own business for around 4 years. This gave me lots of opportunities to work within the community and develop my training / teaching skills. This then led me onto my degree pathway. I studied with Northumberland College gaining my Foundation Degree in the Childrens Workforce Practice. I then progressed onto my BA HONS Degree in Working with Children and Families. At this point I began working within the community supporting the Early Help Team. I then went onto complete my PGCE in Young People and Adults Specialist with Newcastle College. I really enjoy working for Northumberland Learning & Skills it is my passion to deliver good opportunities for learners to develop their passion and skills for supporting Children, Young People and Families. My learning journey started when I was working as a volunteer in a local playgroup, I enjoyed it so much I decided to change my career path. I planned my learning journey and over the next few years I completed a raft of courses and qualifications through Adult education sector and Northumbria university. I qualified as an Early Years Professional and as a Teaching Assistant. I understand how hard it is working, running a home, looking after family, fitting in work experience placements and developing Assignments for set deadlines. I kept on going and now teach in the Adult education sector. It has all been worth it for me. I really enjoy Education Teaching and Learning truly feel learning is lifelong. I continue to seek out ways to update my practice to remain current with the changing challenges involved in working with children. I like to get to know my learners and support them as they work hard to achieve their qualifications and gain meaningful employment. I have worked within the childcare and education sector of adult education since 2002. My journey started when my sons attended a local pre-school playgroup where I became a volunteer/Treasurer, then in 1997 gained employment as Deputy leader and then Leader. During this time I completed various training/courses including Advanced Diploma In Playgroup Practice, Initial Training for Classroom Assistants and Certificate in Early Years Curriculum Development. In 2002 I was given the opportunity to train to teach childcare, completing 7307 Further and Adult Education Teacher’s Certificate. I left playgroup in 2003 and started to teach as a sessional tutor for both North Tyneside Adult learning Service and Northumberland Learning and Skills Service, continuing to develop my skills and training including  EDI Level 4 Award in Conducting Internal Quality Assurance, A1 Vocational Assessors Award  and in 2007 completed Certificate in Post Compulsory Education and Training. I now work for Northumberland Learning and Skills only and enjoy the opportunity to share my training and experience, supporting learners to gain qualifications and employment. I am passionate about teaching and have done so in various capacities since 1989, the majority being in FE and HE .

 I  commenced my academic journey by gaining a BA in Childhood Studies and Professional Practice ,followed by an MA in Education. I gained my PGCE in Primary Education 3 - 7 year old  with QTS in 2010 . I have a Post Grad Certificate in SEN and inclusion.
I am currently working on my Professional Doctorate
