It must come spontaneously and purely from within." This tells us that we can't bring democracy to other countries if they don't agree with it. they have to come up with it themselves.  "They are your servants; not your masters. From a different point of view you have to understand that these people who volunteered to fight in this war needed the support. They would have a greater chance of dying without it. The government silenced them because they were at war. "When the United States is at war...or shall willfully utter, print, write, or publish any language intended to incite, provoke, or encourage resistance to the United States"

It was a very positive base when Debs began agreeing to have men settle for war and basically make the U.S. sort of a better base on what should have or needed to happen within themselves. And the fact that Debs went to prison kind of showed how strongly his comment was and what people thought about it and how they took it.

The reason why I think that is because we need to be able to speak our minds and call out the government when it makes a mistake.
