I got really surprised when I noticed these studies have been showing up the importance of both input and output since the 90s. It makes me think of the period of college when have never heard anything about the approaches which could be used concerning to language acquisition. My professors used to teach only grammar, the reason why I kept teaching my students using only inputs as I have been taught. As I got really frustrated about my students not improving their skills, I started taking different postgraduating courses in order to reflect and become a good teacher.

Despite of the lack of researches about bilingualism in Brazil, worldwide studies (as Garcia's and Grosjean's) have been proving that bilingualism presents beneficial influence on cognitive function. it not only changes the way neurological structures process information, but may also positively modify the neurological structures themselves.
Thus, it's about time to started teaching other languages but the native to young learners even before their literacy age. Also investigating, sharing and spreading new findings about bilingualism in Brazilian contexts may benefit teachers around the country.
