She incorporates the teacher assistant of the week's typical phrases to create attention grabbers for her students. It's really neat! I would give one of those videos a watch if you're interested. Something I think is interesting that she often gets "hate" comments on is that she sometimes makes videos with her students. However, each time she posts a video containing any of her students in it, she discloses that each and every one of the students in her videos are allowed to be there because their parents have signed multiple media release forms and a FERPA form. This is just showing that although she wants her students to have fun and be a part of her platform if they'd like to be, she cares about their safety and is going about posting them the correct--legal way and with parental approval.

Howie presents the information specifically for elementary school teachers, but I have also used some of his videos when teaching sophomores in high school. The information he presents is very helpful for any age really. One of the best parts about his videos is that they are short and yet so thought provoking. He is able to reach everyone with the way he explains math terms. He also shares information on why things in math are they way they are. He uses visuals really well and allows the teachers to see how it can be applied to their classroom when teaching math. Howie has also encouraged many to have a growth mindset in math to learn all they can. Howie also encourages everyone that they are a math person. He stresses how math is so individual and exciting because everyone has a different thought process when completing a problem. If you have not see his videos before, I would take a look. She specializes in reading instruction for K-2. She even has a reading subscription program for phonological awareness and phonics. On her Instagram page, she even posts tips about culturally responsive teaching and how to rephrase your language when discussing certain subjects. For example, in a video on her Instagram page, she explains that when discussing segregation, instead of saying “black people could not go to school because they were black,” we should say something along the lines of “black people could not go to school because racist people would not let them.” She explains that this teaches students that the problem is not that they were black, but the problem is the racist people. I really enjoyed that video and I look forward to consuming more of her content in the future.
