Protons (positively charged) and neutrons (neutral)  are in the center of the atom, which is called the nucleus. Protons are made of two up quarks and one down quark. Neutrons are made of two down quarks and one up quark. Electrons are spread around the nucleus. They are much smaller. The number of protons in each "shell" determines what other atoms it will react with.</div>]]></description>
