The CARE Initiative is one of the many initiatives towards ensuring healthcare accessibility and knowledge all over the world. This project focused on reproductive health in places where reproductive health isn't really brought to attention. The Talking Book project consisted of a book-shaped audio device holding informational audio and songs containing general information useful for pregnant mothers. This caused a 2.5% reduction in pregnant women experiencing anemia, and 86.6% of women have claimed nutrition specific health services.

https://www.care.org/news-and-stories/health/talking-books-building-nutritious-future-bangladesh/

Polio is a growing problem in African countries, and has manifested itself into an epidemic. A lot of nomadic groups in Africa, who don't get healthcare access, are affected. AFRO GIS, an organization which is an outreach of the United Nations World Health Organization, is working towards providing information about polio and having immunization programs to administer the vaccine safely to chronically unreached nomadic groups. In the five countries across Lake Chad, 40,000 children received immunization against polio.

https://storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/3a26d81380234693a8ed2c0c38342ac5

The Global Fund is an organization advocating for healthcare accessibility for malaria preventative care and treatment. This initiative also focuses on reproductive health, because that type of health information and resources are expensive and not accessible. This hospital is one of the first to incorporate a malaria vaccine into their immunization program. They give out AI mosquito nets and give out preventative medicine supplements to pregnant women to reduce the risk of it.

https://www.theglobalfund.org/en/opinion/2024/2024-04-22-women-leading-charge-against-malaria-cameroon/

What YOU Can Do

Even if achieving complete health access globally seems like a big goal, there's still a few things we can do to help! We can spread awareness about these healthcare initiatives and donate to them, we can spread awareness about places with limited healthcare accessibility through social media, and we can share places where we can get reliable healthcare information. This helps us get better health information and also brings awareness to places abroad where healthcare access isn't there.
