Have you ever wondered how hotels keep their pools' water crystal clear and free of leaves? Especially when we don't see anyone with a pool net around. Well, the skimmers are responsible for this cleaning.

What Is a Pool Skimmer?

Pool skimmers are openings in the pool's wall near the surface. They resemble a box and have a wide window and a curtain that opens and closes the access to the suction pipe. The leaves, branches, and insects are kept in a basket at the bottom. This keeps the pump from being damaged if an unwanted object becomes stuck. The skimmer gate also closes to prevent these elements from returning to the pool.

Furthermore, the Skimmer quickly removes contaminants like nitrites and ammonium, keeping your pool clean and safe for your health.

Its main objective is to allow the passage of water towards the filter, and that large impurities (such as leaves) are trapped so that only small particles such as hair, dead cells, etc. reach the filter.

A specific movement is created with the help of the suction pump, which is connected to the skimmer below. This motion draws leaves and other impurities. It also raises the amount of oxygen in the water and decreases the amount of phosphate, preventing the creation of algae.

The water absorbed by the skimmer is transported via tubes to the pump and then to the filter, where the smallest impurities are retained. In a nutshell, a skimmer is an essential component of a filtration system.

So, if you have a pool at home, I recommend that you install a skimmer. Intex is the most trusted brand of pool skimmer. You can use skimmers for Intex pools to keep these as clean as others.

My Experience with Skimmers for Intex Pools

I have two Intex pools at home and use Intex skimmers to keep them clean. I'm using the Intex Deluxe Pool Surface Skimmer. It has a wall-mounted design and is great for cleaning your pool.

The surface skimmer works in conjunction with your filtration pump to automatically pick up and collect leaves and other debris before they fall to the pool's bottom. The pool skimmer can be mounted to the pool's side walls. You can move it up and down to the height of the water surface using an adjustable mounting bracket. The filter basket is removable, and the chemical and corrosion-resistant plastic composition makes cleaning and maintaining the skimmer a breeze. This automatic surface skimmer requires a filter pump with a minimum water flow rate of 1,000 gal/hr (3,785 l/hr).

This Intex Wall Mounted Pool Surface Skimmer takes away the worry and hassle of manually cleaning up leaves and debris on a hot summer day!
