This is the place where my mother (Imelda Dizon) was born in 1987. My mom grew up in this village until she was 3 years old. Life there you had to be very intelligent. The crops and food you grew was your breakfast, lunch, and dinner. In 1990, my mom ( Imelda Dizon ) , my uncle (Adrian Ibanez) , my aunty (Joni Ibanez) , my grandma (Yvonne Ibanez) , and a lot more aunties and uncles got sponsored to go to the U.S. with aunty Lidya. My grandpa (Guillermo Dizon) tried to stop my mom, uncle, and aunty from going to the U.S.. My grandpa didn't want my mom to leave him. Therefore, my mom and her siblings had to go into hiding from my grandpa because they were scared he was gonna try to take my mom for good. One way my grandpa tried to prevent them from going to the U.S. was saying that he just enrolled my aunty Joni in school so they need to stay until she is done. My mom and uncle were too young to go to school yet. They had to stay in hiding for 6 months until they could finally migrate to the U.S.

This part of Washington is where my family migrated too. My family got here in 1990 to get more opportunities for more money, to have better education for the kids, and to get out of poverty. My family came to the U.S. and stayed at the 'Ibanez House' in south park. After all everyone got jobs and my Grandma got married to Menfield, ( My step-grandpa) the kids got to go school. One of the stories my mom told me was when she would go to school and exclude herself from the other kids since she didn’t know english so she couldn’t bond or speak with them. After My he One of the effects moving to South Park was were grew our families population in Washington. In addition there wasn’t a lot of competition with getting jobs which put my family at a lot of ease.
more money - economic
better education - social
poverty - economic
families population - social

Donsol is where my grandma (Yvonne Son) was born at. According to my grandma while she was living there her parents expectations were very high to do good with her studies. My grandma worked very hard with her studies while her mom took care of the household by planting crops for food, making blankets and cloths to use, and washing all the clothes. Her dad went working in construction to pay bills for the house. My grandma was expected with the household since she was one of the girls. To live with not as much money in the philippines you had to work a lot, and you never had days off of work like we do in the U.S.
pay bills - economic
studies - social

Burien Washington is where I was born. Highline Medical Center to be exact. My mom ( Imelda Dizon ) was 21 and we were living in a spare room in the back with my aunty Joy for 8 years. My mom was busy with work at greyhound to provide for me, she was also in school to be a nurse. My lola Joy let us stay at the nursing home with her. So i grew up with my lolo pogi and lola Joy watching me when my mom worked hours at work and to study at school. When i grew old enough to go to school i went to pre-school at a young age of 3 and went for 2 years. My step grandpa actually worked in the office at the preschool i was in. So he usually took me with him since my mom was busy. When my mom got a new job we ended up moving to a new house and are now living comfortably. The reason we moved in with lola Joy and her nursing home was so we can pay for food easier, and have shelter.
pay for food easier - economic
shelter - environment
went to pre-school - social
work at greyhound - economic

After graduating high school My aunty Joni joined the military because she didn’t want to go to college. She felt it was a good idea to go to the military because it was good exercise, she wanted to help her community, and get benefits ;). She worked in Puyallup for most almost 10 years. She recently got stationed in Korea to advance her work in the military. She got to choose out of 3 places to get stationed she chose Korea because of the delicious food. She also chose to be stationed in Korea for the economic opportunity to make more money. I think this effected my aunty Joni by getting a new variety of food, making new friends as a foreigner, and putting more diversity in Korea.
Military - political
new friends as a foreigner - social
more money - economic
