  • Because they survived as a group for longer
  • Why did they survive?
  • Those with political, economic, and social structures in place <- meaning those who had some resemblance of European culture or adapted quickly
  • Also those who befriend the powerful (colonists)
  • Do we see that same pattern today?
  • Think about the structures of the USA versus the structures of a developing country

  • Throughout history the Coastal Plains have had the highest concentration of people.  Why?
