When I decided to enroll in Phonetics and Phonology, I had no idea what was that, I only knew it had something to do with speaking. First day in class, professor Rodrigo introduced himself in English. I thought “Oh my God! I’m so screwed”. I thought about giving up, but I told myself “giving up is for weak people, I’m not giving up”.

Through all the material displayed to us for Professor Rodrigo, I could learn a lot. We were taught how to pronounce correctly the words in English, learning from the beginning, consonant and vowel sounds. Our professor led us to the right way showing us that we still have a lot to study and learn and we have to seek it. All the tasks we have been doing are helping me a lot with my linguistic proficiency development. We are having the chance to not only learn, but also practice our pronunciation and it’s really important for us as English teachers. It’s helping me a lot because I want my students to understand exactly what I’m saying. I learnt that we should overcome each class and I saw the teacher as our partner, always clearing our doubts and helping us to find our identity.We have been given a lot of material and instruments to practice our pronunciation and proficiency and I’ll be working really hard to get over my obstacles and fight using the weapons I have. It was a great experience. We are what we want to be.
