The giant pacific octopus has many adaptions that help it survive in environment it lives in. One adaption is the rear most arms that are used to push off the ocean floor to move faster, anchor the octopus in place and are used to crawl around debris and rocks. Another adaption is the use of camouflage. The octopus uses it color and texture to blend in with its surroundings in order to protect itself from pray. Octopuses have color cells in their skin that help them camouflage. When an octopus wants to camouflage. their muscles in their skin pull out combinations of color in order to create a color that matches the octopuses surroundings. The color combination can be brown, yellow, and red. Another adaption to the octopus is in their amazing arms. Octopuses have arms that are very flexible, considering they contain no bones, and can move into small places to hide from its enemies very easily. The arms on the octopus have over 200 suckers that look like suction cups. These suction cups can help octopuses grab onto slick ocean rock or the prey they are trying to get. An octopus also releases a cloud of black ink when they feel threatened, that is suppose to scare off predators although the black ink doesn't actually harm predators.

The problem of struggling to open jars is one that people face everyday. There are several hacks on the internet that you can try and use to open a jar like tapping on the jar, using a knife (Is that really safe?), and also to use rubber bands to put on the lid for grip. (Hopefully they don't slip) After doing research on this problem, I never found a solution that I felt would work best for my use, that was easy to use and also safe to use. This is when I thought of the suction idea.
