Gesture drawing

1. Drawing in one line:
It was interesting because i could not start the drawing with
main parts like circle for a head, i had to immediately go to details while mantaining one line style. The result came out not as bad as i thought it would, but proportions still were not as good as they could be, though I believe it was better that what i did on the first lesson.

2. Drawing without looking:
I expected the result to be a complete mess, but even though my drawing had 2 faces and was fairly chaotic, features could still be seen and it looks a lot smoother than if i would try to do this chaos on purpose. I think i might even turn this into an avangard drawing of a person with two faces.

Mind Map

Creating a Mind Map was an interesting task, the idea is to draw everything you associate yourself with around your name to express your personality. At the end i did not add as much color, but on the other hand I didn't feel like it needed more of it, and i liked the style.

We drew a person in front of us from 4 different sides: Front, Back, Side and 3/4 We had limited time so this task helped me quickly understand shape of the face so i can sketch it quickly at any angle.

Portrait

Portrait of Madame X is a portrait painting by John Singer Sargent. With this artwork John wanted to make people talk about him so he used controvercial for that time dark and open dress. Woman in the portrait is Virginie Gautreau.

Self Portrait

Self-Portrait with Seven Fingers is a painting of Marc Chagall. It is abstratct and the artist represents himself painting a reduced version of Of Russia, of Donkeys and Others, with seven fingers on one hand.

Today my task was to sketch a view from our art room on school, houses, and mountains in the background. i just sketched rough shape of the landscape and buildings to add more details later.

Ecoline

Ecoline is watercolor that is already mixed with water and is liquid, it helps achieve bright and desired colors in your drawings. I decided to draw a diagram that showed what happened after mixing different colors together.

Help for winter show

We were helping teacher with painting decorations for winter concert. We simply de-assembled cardboard boxes, painted them black, and assembled pack to formal shape.

Matvey, I can't really follow your journey and understand the different processes and steps you took developing your ideas until the final outcome. 🙃👎🏻

It seems that you totally forgot that you need to continue your art journal. You should have a post for each lesson with description of tasks and reflection about your practice or ideas.

In the future try to begin using vocabulary from the art glossary, explain your performance analysis with more detail. Set aims to achieve or specific creative or technical skills you need to improve on.

Unfortunately, this will have an impact on your term grade, make sure you compensate during next term, if you find it easier your can do a voice note instead of writing.
