Hello, my name is Lily Dixon and I'm a junior. I'm currently enrolled in the Business Management CTE pathway and aspire to take my learnings from the ASCEND program and apply them to my own aspirations of becoming a motorsport journalist. One fun fact about me is I've been to 26 countries and hope to continue traveling the world, reaching 50 countries before I turn 50. One piece of advice I would give to someone who is thinking about joining the Business Management pathway is to be open-minded and look at options with a broad-focus. Getting to niche or too narrow limits potential and possibility.

Hi, my name is Carly Vineyard. I'm a sophomore here at ORCA. I am currently enrolled in the Medical Science CTE pathway. I've always been drawn to Medical Science and Healthcare careers, and it's always been a lifelong goal to become a Registered Nurse. One fun fact about me is that I’m a dedicated roller-hockey player determined to keep advancing in the sport, while also pursuing my passion for creative writing—especially stories inspired by World War 1. My advice to someone interested in the Medical Science CTE is to stay curious, always ask questions, and take every opportunity you can to gain hands-on experience.

Hi my name is Marissa Klein. I'm a junior and i'm enrolled in the health sciences CTE pathway. I joined this pathway because I enjoy learning about the body and I want to pursue a career in the medical field. One fun fact about me is i'm a dancer. Dance has lead me to having an interest in becoming a physical therapist because physical therapy has helped me with my injuries and keeps me in dance. The advice I would give someone who is thinking about joining this pathway is start small. Take a class that's board like health sciences 1, and figure out if it's something you're really interested in.

Hello, I'm Mrs. Highfill. I'm one of the Business Pathway teachers here at ORCA. I have owned my own businesses since the age of 6 so joining the ORCA CTE Business pathway clearly made sense! I want to inspire and show students how Business is built into every area of your life and careers and teach the values of this knowledge to help you live in your strengths, push yourself out of your comfort zone and find your why. I have earned 4 college degrees. (all for FREE) using a variety of tactics and I'm passionate about helping students fund college for free. I even went back to school to earn my MBA (Class of '23) which was a goal I'd had for 30 years. It's never too late to realize a dream. Everyone should be in a career pathway. It allows you an opportunity to network, learn, explore skills and build your personal brand for after high school. No matter where you land in your career, please know we are getting you ready at ORCA to reach your dreams and THAT is why we are here.

Hello, my name is Kenzie Shrock; I am a freshman. I'm in the Business Pathway. I chose this pathway because I've been wanting to open my own business lately when I finish my years in the Military. I'm a competitive swimmer and swim for Albany Aquatics Association Club and the South Albany High School Redhawks. The advice I would give someone is that this pathway can be a fast pace and you can fall behind but you can't give up. You need to keep going and ask for help when you need it. You've got teachers and classmates that are here to help you; you are not alone.
