After my first class of german and learning interesting words like buterbord, kuranke, die flasche and das wurstchen. I realised that my pronounciation was considerably different to how my tutors. this was mainly because i am not familiar with the 'r' hissing sound and the german umlauts
After coming home i looked up some basic german learning videos to help me with them. ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EvDB5Xq-LeQ)
..i still couldn't get them right the first couple of times. but i kept listening and trying with the speaker in the video i realised that i was getting better slowly.

After a couple of minutes I started recording my self using my phone inorder to evaluate my sound and compare it with the speakers sound.

Doing this really helped me to find my mistakes and my pronounciation has considerably improved.

In order to cut short my learning curve a little bit, i started making flash cards of the 100 most used german verbs. To do this I used this video from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJxieXyATaY&t=2727s,
This proved extremely useful and i was able to easily complete the first assignment from class using words i learnt from this video. I am still uncomfortable using the tenses and get confused with Präsens	Präteritum Perfekt tenses.

In order to understand the similarities between the english tenses and german tenses, i found a very good resource in this pdf online ( https://zodml.org/sites/default/files/501_German_Verbs.pdf )
This contained the various tenses and forms in which different verbs are used in English and how these are reflected in german. This not only helped me to frame and write correct sentences in german but also helped me refresh my english grammer.

In week 6, i realised that even though i was able to frame logical sentences, i was still getting the die, der and das forms incorrectly.
At first i thought i just have to memorise the articles associated with each and every noun which felt like a daunting task. But then i came across this youtube video ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-NiFYOgPwQ) which gives out a general outline of the different things and scenarios in which each of articles are used. For example der is always used to describe days, months, seasons, directions. another way is to check the endings of the nouns. as i begin to practice this differentiation started to become natural for me.

By this time I had made some really good friends in my class and we started to hangout more often. One of my friends and I go to the gym every alternate day, and there we have made a pact to use german to communicate as much as possible. this helps us to learn from each other and develop a strong set of vocabulary early on. We also challenge each other on duolingo app to instil a competitive environment to keep us motivated.

By Week 8, i could comfortably understand german small talk. To further test my ability to listen and apprehend german correctly, i started looking out for easy german movies like this one for a1 level |( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-eDoThe6qo&t=990s )
and while I still couldn't understand each and every dialogue without the subtitles. I could very well extract the essence of the conversations. Apart from this I also got a glimse of the german culture and the different accents with which people from different parts of germany speak.
