         <description><![CDATA[<div>Ares was worshiped in Scythia in the form of a sword, with which not only horses and other cattle were sacrificed, but also men.<br>Although he is the epitome of brutality and violence, as well as of the tumult, confusion and horrors of battles, 1 as opposed to his step-sister Athena, who represents meditation and wisdom in matters of war and protects humans from its ravages. The Romans identified him with Mars, the Roman god of war and agriculture (which they had inherited from the Etruscans), but he enjoyed much greater esteem among them.<br><br></div>]]></description>
