In this covenant, Adam was asked and required to obey what God told him to do in order to receive God's blessing. God told Adam and Eve to resist the temptation of eating the apple off of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Adam and Eve disobey him and give into the temptation of the fruit. Leading us to realize the Adamic covenant points to Jesus' crucifixion. Jesus died on the cross to free us of all of our sins. Jesus is the new Adam because when Adam ate the apple he disobeyed God. Jesus obeyed on the cross. This covenant also points to how Mary is the new Eve. Mary was born free from sin and is the pure example of a woman. Mary is our example of what it means to be human and Eve is merely the opposite. Adam and Eve created original sin.

Jesus' crucifixion is the most significant event because that is the time Jesus gave his life for all of us. He died on the cross for us to be free of sin. This is still present today because we worship God and are eternally grateful for the sacrifice Jesus made for us.

Saul's Conversion was significant because that was the say Saul became St. Paul. With Saul coming from a bad past of persecuting Christians, God forgave him. This event shows us how Merciful God really is. The Church will forgive as long as we are aware of our sin and promise to not repeat it. This is present today when we go to confession and confess our sins to a Priest, asking for God's mercy and forgiveness.

The Council of Jerusalem was a group of people who were strong followers of God and wanted to share their faith with many. They went on a journey in efforts to covert a group of Gentiles to follow with them. They decided to make it easy for the Gentiles of join them because they realized they just wanted as many members as possible. The Council of Jerusalem wanted to include everyone in their faith, just like the church today accepts and welcomes everyone into the church.

Jesus' baptism points back to the church through him being baptized in the Jordan river. Jesus set an example to his people by being baptized, like we are baptized in the church. Jesus' baptism was extremely significant because he became a part of the church and united with God. Jesus being baptized set a standard for all those in favor of entering the church to be baptized as well. Today, people still are baptized everyday.

The Noahic covenant is from Genesis 9 . This is a covenant in which God establishes an agreement with Noah after the flood. The agreement consisted of God renewing the blessings of creation. In this covenant, the wood and the water within the covenant represent the ark and the flood, the ark points to the cross (in salvation). The flood brings us back to baptism and how you must be baptized to enter the church. The door on the side of the ark represents the side of Christ in which he was pierced. The blood and water from the side of Christ also leads us to the eucharist. In this covenant there is one ark while there also is one true Church.

The Mosaic covenant was a covenant created between God and the nation of Isreal. This had to do with the Ten Commandments, the magisterium (teacher, and priesthood). those led to priest and sacraments. The Passover also comes from this covenant and points all the way back to the tenth plague. It points to the Church because the unblemished lamb and the blood on the post point to Jesus' death because Jesus is the lamb of God.

Jesus' Birth connects to the Noahic Covenant because of the one united church God has created for all of us. Jesus was born by Mary, she conceived while still staying pure. Mary had Jesus in a stable, surrounded by kings, wise men, and shepherds.

Religion class is probably my favorite class, I never had a religion class during elementary and most of middle school. I love having a class dedicated to learning more about the Bible and starting to understand the history of the church. It also makes me feel really accomplished when I learn something knew in class or when I finally understand and can explain something that we are learning. I also love how in this class we are able to reflect on how we are feeling and write journals about envisioning our best self.
