Official typography styles of presenting themselves always fascinate me because it often has to do with a certain saref that is slightly taller than it is wide and this specific piece has the like four to five different fonts on it but it's surprisingly works well because of how they separate the information even though it can feel slightly clunky at times I found this in my dorm and early in the semester. And originally I was taking the photo for just have the mail services info but it also really reminds me of just how professional typefaces can exist and really show like there's room properties for many different styles.

Keeping in the theme of rice stuff, this was an art piece that was bought at Rice. And I really like their choice of font here because it doesn't take away from peice by being too graphic to design; it has sort of that handwritten feel to it. And I don't know if they actually chose the font or if they wrote this themselves and took a very long time perfecting it but it gives me the tarot card like lovers and it has just such a nice feeling to it because it has those slight imperfections that make it feel like another person wrote it

the plane ticket that I took over rate before school is very simple but I wanted to have it as a another version of what is considered like a serious place. Or like official type. This being mostly in Turkish It really keeps a very simple, easy to read nice font. And it has just a variety to it It's sort of a messy print. The plane ticket is and it's not like the cleanest but the way that it takes up the space is bold on the white paper or the white on the red gives it enough contrasts to keep it a simple and understood concept.

It's not fully one that you often see in official use very often because of the sort of curved edges I often see this one slightly outside of like public usage for like resumes businesses, but here they used it and I thought it was really interesting that they would use that softer one which could have been just a misclick on Google Drive or Microsoft Word.

Then going on to the flowflex test. I think the logo design here is really interesting because the flow and flex are I'm not quite sure why they chose this design. Because flex kind of has that stronger terminology to me. So I would personally switch them but then again, I don't really understand why they have the red dash and flow unless it's supposed to be like a cross. But it's kind of weird to have that little lout in the F above it or not. But the mark in the F if it's not. If it's supposed to be across like they couldn't move that over to the L maybe. But I guess you would have had problems looking like a T but this just makes me think more than actually intrigues me.

But the font choice of the actual book is very striking to me the orangish red on the black works really well.

In the same way that this last piece had that handwritten appeal, this feels hand painted because of the little little shakes in the hands but it's so perfectly calculated the official attempt to make it an actual like designed element with the coloration that they chose of the white on the dark web. It doesn't have that problem that people can run into when they are trying to print or paint something in type. That is they put it on to similar colors; it is the contrast that really helps this font stick out.

The village cafe I also found very interesting in the amount of fonts they used. Because I often will compare the village cafe to VCU as a whole and I think it still works because even though I don't know if I've ever seen the village lettering here on any official VCU merch, the yellow black and white and the bold kind of shaping, I would call it a college font choice because it reminds me of things like UVA, the V in UVA or like William and Mary on like some of their border products. Reminds me of that and the cafe is a perfect staple of many cafes I've seen with having the cursive font be the cafe.

Both offer a very strong contrast both are easier to read than you would think they would be. And particularly the desert. I do not think should work as well as it does. But the deconstructionist and like it playful turns that have been playing they're sort of like these are. This was a paper that someone tore out parts of messily and then put on. It takes inspiration from the join or die the Ben Franklin propaganda, and I basically chose the the closest font I could find to what I saw on that original one. But I wanted to make sure that it portrayed the fantasy elements that I personally want to see more of and more experimentation with in typography.

The Blue Magic by Karmah poster I think works really well based on the sort of 70s kind of nostalgia type that they chose because of the kind of trippy vibes that they're going for with the poster design. I think the color choice is really nice. If they had gone with a lighter blue it would have been seen as like too playful. I think it is a perfect balance of this is what this is going to be about. And still creating intrigue with mystery.

Same with the stuff that's in the book. And then the other two sections where it's Richmond indie comics Expo and the actual dates are a little sketchier which plays with the whole VCU arts and like creating kind of situation which is also very interesting and I think it promotes what it's trying to promote very well with its type by offering adventurer and art.

This rice poster goes for more of the direct comic book influence with the rice being in a very blocky word bubble and very clearly this is a comic panel and even though it has all of these other simpler and more official thoughts. It really brings together such a wonderful feeling of that's the possum eating takeout rice and I don't know, this is Richmond to me. I really love it.

Everything looks so distinctly separate from each other but it all works very well together. In a way that you can separate it all in your mind very easily. tell exactly what the information is what you need, which is exactly the code right next to it. I particularly liked this design per poster, not because of the typeface exactly, but the typeface definitely excels the project for me, but I love the design of having the little cutout figurine that you're putting together that was really cool to me. But I really liked the red on the blue violet, kind of color and blue indigo color that really just brings the whole thing into a sort of aggressive but calming kind of design. It gets your attention so easily. I think it was a wonderful design and the bold lettering that is throughout it is really nice. I think because of the interest in fashion and the arts specifically around Richmond and VCU, it works well. I think the back fidelity is a little bit hard to read. I think the giant designer color the perfect choice for pairing it with the symbolism underneath and the white on the darker purplish black color for the rest of the font works really well and helps keep it easy to understand when the black fidelity font kind of blends together too much with the F and T.
