One major issue in the book is bullying when the students send this list around school. The list works positively for the ones named the prettiest but the ones named ugly it hurts. Being called the ugliest girl in your class publicly can be a major turning point for some high school girls. One example of bullying is when girls scream down the hallway at Danielle, "Dan the man."(Vivian 139). This continues to happen to different girls throughout the book causing a major bullying problem.
http://cdn1.medicalnewstoday.com/content/images/articles/293/293134/girl-being-bullied-by-a-group-of-girls.jpg

One theme in the book is popularity. A character, Candace, proves this when she says, "I know what shes looking at- a column of names stretching down a page. A list of girls dying to ride with her in the homecoming parade."(Vivian 140). Another theme in the book is self worth. Sarah doesn't think she is worth very much to her family or other girls. she feels out of place everywhere she goes.
http://schoollyd.com/p/2016/11/notebook-to-write-in-cofklb4m.jpg

I haven't really learned anything new from the book. The book is mainly about high school life which isn't new to me. However, the students at this school are meaner than usual and have cases of bullying that we don't have here at Hillcrest. Things such as writing ugly across your forehead and making lists don't happen at Hillcrest. Therefore, I saw that as a type of bullying i have never seen before and i saw how people experienced bullying.
http://affinitymagazine.us/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/13000874.jpg
